Pelaihari, Tanah Laut – The Tanah Laut Regency Government (Pemkab Tala), South Kalimantan, successfully held the Gema Takbir Festival, featuring 56 participants to enliven the night of Eid al-Fitr in Pelaihari City.

The event, initiated by the Department of Education and Culture, provided a platform for the community to showcase their creativity through a religious-themed decorated car contest. Myrza Fazrina, Head of the Tanah Laut Department of Education and Culture, said the festival aims to encourage active community participation while preserving the takbiran tradition.

“This festival gives the community a chance to express creativity while strengthening the Islamic message,” Myrza said in Pelaihari on Saturday.

Participants started the parade from Balairung Tuntung Pandang, circling Pelaihari City while chanting the echo of takbir. The decorated vehicles reflected collaboration between government agencies, the public, and vertical institutions to celebrate the takbiran night.

In her report, Myrza stated that the event was funded by the local government budget (APBD) with total prizes of IDR 90 million, featuring 42 participants from government work units (SKPD), 12 from the public, and two vertical institutions.

Tanah Laut Regent Rahmat Trianto praised the participants’ enthusiasm, which created a religious atmosphere and strengthened community bonds.

“Through this event, we not only celebrate Eid al-Fitr but also reinforce togetherness among the community,” Rahmat said.

He added that the festival will continue as an annual agenda, involving broad community participation.

“The local government will continue organizing religious events like this to preserve traditions and strengthen social cohesion,” he concluded.
