Bulog President Director Ahmad Rizal Ramdhani said Monday that Indonesia's state logistics agency has prepared around 200,000 tons of premium rice for planned exports to Malaysia, Singapore, and the United Arab Emirates. He made the announcement during a visit to Bulog's Jakarta and Banten Regional Warehouse in Jakarta.
Rizal said Bulog currently has approximately 200,000 tons of premium rice with a 5% broken grain specification in stock, allowing the company to respond quickly once export orders are confirmed.
"We currently have around 200,000 tons of premium rice with 5% broken grains on standby. If a request comes in at any time, we are ready to ship immediately," Rizal said.
According to him, Indonesia plans to export 200,000 tons of rice to Malaysia, 10,000 tons to Singapore, and up to 50,000 tons per month to the United Arab Emirates.
Bulog is also exploring export opportunities in neighboring countries, including Timor-Leste and Papua New Guinea.
"We also see potential exports to neighboring countries such as Timor-Leste and Papua New Guinea. We hope Bulog can continue bringing Indonesian rice to international markets," Rizal said.
He added that Bulog has already prepared the 10,000 tons of rice designated for Singapore, which will be processed alongside the shipment intended for Malaysia.
"The 10,000 tons for Singapore have already been prepared and will be processed together with the Malaysian order," he said.
Separately, Agriculture Minister Andi Amran Sulaiman said Indonesia's plan to export at least 10,000 tons of rice to Singapore was discussed during a bilateral meeting with Singapore's Minister for Sustainability and the Environment, Grace Fu, at the Ministry of Agriculture headquarters in Jakarta on Monday.
Amran said the export proposal is supported by Indonesia's strong rice production and national reserves. Government rice stockpiles have reached approximately 5.1 million tons, while warehouse capacity stands at around 3 million tons, requiring part of the inventory to be stored in leased facilities.
He noted that rice trade between Indonesia and Singapore is not new, as private companies have conducted shipments for years. The latest initiative aims to expand cooperation through a partnership between Indonesia's state-owned enterprises and private sector partners in Singapore.
Bulog says it is ready to begin shipments once export agreements with partner countries are finalized. In addition to Malaysia, Singapore, and the United Arab Emirates, the agency is also pursuing potential export opportunities in Timor-Leste and Papua New Guinea.
