A shocking incident in Depok, West Java, has captured public attention after a violent mob attacked and set fire to a police vehicle in the Harjamukti area of Cimanggis.
Following swift investigation, police have arrested five suspects believed to be involved in the chaos.
What’s more concerning is that four out of the five suspects are reportedly members of a mass organization known as GRIB Jaya (Gerakan Rakyat Indonesia Bersatu).

-
Article 214: Violence against an official on duty
-
Article 351: Assault and battery

With these serious charges, the suspects could face long prison sentences if convicted.
Police Urge Public to Stay Calm and Avoid Provocation
In light of this case, authorities are urging the public to remain calm and not be easily provoked. They’re also calling for cooperation to maintain peace and order in the community.
“We encourage everyone to trust law enforcement to handle the case. Don’t get dragged into provocations or violence. Let’s work together to maintain safety and unity,” said Ade Ary.
Role of Mass Organizations Under Scrutiny
The involvement of mass organization members in this incident has raised questions about the role of such groups in society. While many organizations do positive work, there are growing concerns about groups that may promote or engage in violence.
Public pressure is mounting on the government and law enforcement to monitor mass organizations more strictly. Many are calling for stronger regulations and enforcement to prevent these groups from straying from their intended civic missions.
This incident in Depok is a serious reminder of the dangers of mob violence and taking justice into one’s own hands. The consequences not only affect the victims and law enforcement but also ruin the lives of the perpetrators and their families.
By acting decisively and bringing the suspects to justice, the police have shown a firm commitment to upholding the law. Hopefully, this case will set an example and discourage others from engaging in similar violent acts in the future.
Let’s all stay vigilant, support peaceful solutions, and help build a safer and more united community.
