Netflix has just dropped the trailer for the action fantasy sequel The Old Guard 2, set to premiere on July 2, 2025. The sequel brings back Charlize Theron, who reprises her role as Andromache of Scythia (Andy), an immortal warrior. Additionally, the cast is boosted with the addition of Uma Thurman and Henry Golding, known for his role in The Gentlemen.
The Old Guard is based on the comic book series of the same name by Greg Rucka. The first film introduced a group of immortal mercenaries who have lived for thousands of years, taking on impossible missions. The story centers around four mercenaries, led by Andy, who are invincible due to their immortality. While they've faced countless threats over the centuries, the stakes in the sequel are much higher, with a danger that could jeopardize everything they’ve fought for.
One major change in The Old Guard 2 is the shift in the director's chair. While Gina Prince-Bythewood directed the first film, Victoria Mahoney takes over the role for the sequel.
