Warm Welcome from Indonesian Students to French President Macron: A Proud and Memorable Moment. |
On the morning of Wednesday, May 28, 2025, the area around Indonesia’s National Monument (Monas) in Jakarta was filled with excitement and smiles. Thousands of students from various schools gathered enthusiastically, waving small Indonesian and French flags. They were eagerly awaiting the visit of French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife, Brigitte Macron, who were on a state visit to Indonesia.
As President Macron’s official car passed by, the students shouted together, “Welcome to Indonesia, Mr. President!” The president responded warmly by opening the car window and waving back, while the students cheered and waved their flags. At several moments, President Macron gave a thumbs-up as a sign of appreciation for the warm welcome he received.
This moment was more than just a chance to see a world leader up close — it was an unforgettable experience for the students. Many had gathered early in the morning, traveling together from their schools to the heart of Jakarta, excited to be part of this historic event.
“It was so much fun and lively. Plus, we got to meet students from other schools too. It’s an experience I’ll never forget,” said Rangga, a student from SMKN 3 Jakarta, with a big smile.
The welcoming ceremony was truly special. It included 17 motorcyclists and 75 horseback riders, adding grandeur and excitement to the event. For Raisya, another student from SMKN 3 Jakarta, this was more than just a formal occasion — it was a chance to showcase Indonesia’s unity and hospitality.
“President Macron could see that Indonesia’s welcome was impressive. We were united, there were horseback riders, and all the students were really enthusiastic,” she said proudly.
Syifa and Putri, students from SMAN 30 Jakarta, also expressed their admiration for the event.
“We saw the horses and the motorcade — it was really cool! We felt honored to be part of the welcoming for such an important visitor,” Putri shared with a smile.
This state visit carries a deep meaning in strengthening the diplomatic ties between Indonesia and France. More importantly, President Macron’s presence today gave a valuable lesson to the young generation — about togetherness, pride in their country, and respect for international guests.
Today, these students stood proudly in the front line with bright smiles and high spirits. Flags waved, enthusiasm soared. It was a rare experience they will remember for a lifetime.
