Breaking: Suspects Arrested in Sexual Assault Case Involving Habib Bahar Smith’s Siblings.

In a shocking turn of events that’s currently buzzing all over social media, police in Indonesia have arrested two men connected to a violent assault and sexual harassment case in South Tangerang. What makes this case even more explosive is that the victims include the younger siblings of public figure Habib Bahar Smith.

Two Suspects Nabbed in Different Locations

A joint operation between the Criminal Investigation Unit of South Tangerang Police and Resmob Subdirectorate of Polda Metro Jaya led to the capture of two male suspects on Monday, June 16, 2025.

The first suspect, YLK, was arrested at 7:00 PM on Jalan Panti Asuhan, located in Cipinang Cempedak, East Jakarta. According to Police Commissioner Ade Ary Syam Indradi, YLK allegedly stabbed the male victim, Z, who is the younger brother of Habib Bahar Smith.

“YLK was directly involved in the stabbing and physical assault of the victim, Z,” Ade Ary explained during a press conference on Tuesday.

Second Suspect Arrested for Alleged Sexual Assault

Just a few hours later at 3:00 AM, police caught the second suspect, EKK, in Benda Baru, Pamulang—another area in South Tangerang. EKK is suspected of sexually assaulting a young woman identified as S, who is the younger sister of Habib Bahar Smith.

The assault allegedly occurred in Gang Sate, Pondok Benda, Pamulang, early Monday morning around 2:30 AM. Z reportedly heard his sister screaming his name from the alley and rushed over to check what was going on.

“The brother heard his sister calling for help. When he got to the alley, he saw his sister being pinned down, mouth covered by the suspect. It looked like she was being assaulted,” said the police.

The Victim Fought Back—But Was Injured

Things escalated quickly when Z tried to intervene. A scuffle broke out at the scene. But that wasn’t the end of it. Hoping to get answers, Z later went to the suspect’s house.

When Z opened the door, the confrontation turned violent again. The suspect allegedly grabbed a knife and pointed it at Z’s neck. Trying to defend himself, Z used his hand to block the attack and ended up with a deep gash on his right hand.

“The suspect slashed at him with a knife. The victim blocked the blade and suffered a serious injury,” Ade Ary continued.

What Happens Next?

Both suspects are now in police custody. Authorities are continuing their investigation and collecting more evidence to strengthen the case. Given the involvement of a public figure's family, this case is drawing national attention.

The police also praised Z’s courage in defending his sister and cooperating with investigators despite his injuries.

This Is a Wake-Up Call for the Community

Crimes like this don’t just happen in movies. They’re real, and they can happen anywhere—even in neighborhoods we think are safe. That’s why it’s important to always be alert and speak up when something seems off.

The case involving Habib Bahar Smith’s siblings is a harsh reminder that sexual assault and violent crimes are still major issues in Indonesia. The quicker we report, the quicker justice can be served.
