South Tangerang, Indonesia – Police have successfully arrested a suspect, identified as AT (43), in connection with the theft of an electric motorcycle. The incident occurred when the victim was found asleep on the side of Kramat Raya Street, Central Jakarta, with the motorcycle key still inserted in the ignition.
Unattended Motorcycle with Key Left In Becomes Easy Target
The incident began when the victim parked their electric motorcycle and fell asleep at the location. Unfortunately, the key was left in the ignition, making it an easy opportunity for the suspect to take off with the vehicle.
Upon realizing the motorcycle was missing, the victim immediately reported the theft to the police. Officers from the Central Jakarta Metro Police swiftly responded to the report.
GPS Tracking Leads to Quick Arrest
Police were able to track the stolen electric motorcycle using its active GPS system, which led them directly to the suspect in South Tangerang. The arrest was made without resistance.
Central Jakarta Metro Police Chief, Police Commissioner Susatyo Purnomo Condro, expressed his appreciation for the swift and accurate work of his officers in handling the case.
"We continuously encourage our personnel to respond quickly to public reports. This incident is also a strong reminder for residents not to leave their vehicles unattended with the key still inserted, especially in public areas," he said on Thursday (June 26, 2025).
Further Investigation Underway
Authorities are currently investigating whether the suspect is linked to other similar motorcycle theft cases in Jakarta or nearby regions.
