A 54-year-old man with the initials AS, a resident of Nanga Menterap Village in Sekadau Hulu District, has been apprehended by police after being found in possession of methamphetamine. The arrest was carried out by the Narcotics Unit (Satresnarkoba) of the Sekadau Police on Thursday, June 12, 2025, following a tip-off from concerned citizens.

Head of the Narcotics Unit, IPTU Robianto, explained that AS was arrested without resistance on the Sekadau - Rawak road, precisely in Lamau Hamlet, Perongkan Village, at around 1:15 PM local time.

“This operation began with information from the public. Once verified, our team immediately moved to secure the suspect,” said IPTU Robianto in an official statement on Sunday, June 22, 2025.

During a search at the scene, officers discovered nine plastic clips containing white crystals suspected to be methamphetamine, with a total gross weight of 9.54 grams. In addition, 26 empty plastic clips, a pack of cigarettes, a smartphone, and a vehicle owned by the suspect were also seized.

All evidence, along with the suspect, was taken to Sekadau Police Headquarters for further investigation.

“We are still conducting a thorough investigation, including tracing where the drugs came from and whether others are involved,” Robianto added.

AS is now facing charges under Article 112 paragraph (2) of Indonesia’s Law No. 35 of 2009 on Narcotics, which carries a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison.

IPTU Robianto reaffirmed the department’s commitment to fighting drug circulation in Sekadau’s jurisdiction.

“We’re committed to eliminating drug trafficking from our area. We also encourage the public to actively report any drug-related activity they come across,” he emphasized.
