On Thursday, June 26, 2025, President Prabowo Subianto officially launched several large-scale energy initiatives in Indonesia. The hybrid ceremony marked the start of operations and construction of renewable energy projects in 15 provinces, a 30,000-barrel oil production boost from the Cepu Block, and the groundbreaking of five geothermal power plants (PLTPs).

The event was also joined virtually by stakeholders from various regions, allowing President Prabowo to directly interact with local leaders and community representatives via video conference.

Electricity for Every Village: A Symbol of Government Presence

President Prabowo emphasized that electrification in every village is a concrete sign of the government's commitment to its people.

"I’m truly happy to see that many of you now have access to electricity. We will continue expanding this effort across Indonesia. Every single village must have electricity. Indonesia will become energy self-sufficient," said the President.

How Electricity is Changing Lives in Remote Areas

Reports from various regions highlighted the positive impact of electrification. One came from Lipang Island in the Sangihe Islands, North Sulawesi, where residents expressed gratitude for finally having electricity in their village.

“Before electricity, everything was limited. Now our fishermen can store their catch, our kids can study at night, and we can access better healthcare,” said a local representative.

From South Papua, Mappi Regent Kristosimus Yohanes Agawemu shared that solar power systems (PLTS) now serve around 147 families in two villages. He also voiced hopes that other underserved villages would soon receive power.

In response, President Prabowo assured that the government is working hard to deliver electricity to every corner of Indonesia as quickly as possible.

"That is my commitment as the President of the Republic of Indonesia. We will bring power to all villages, and it won’t take long,” he said confidently.

West Java's Contribution to Clean Energy Supply

From West Java, Sukabumi Regent Asep Japar reported that the Star Energy Geothermal Salak project is supplying 444.2 MW of electricity—enough to power around 495,000 homes.

The project doesn’t just benefit energy infrastructure; it also improves living standards and supports the local economy.

“This program has significantly improved the quality of life in our area and contributes to our regional revenue,” said Asep.

Toward a Self-Sufficient and Sustainable Energy Future

These efforts are part of Indonesia’s broader vision for energy self-sufficiency and sustainability. By investing in clean energy sources like solar and geothermal, the country aims to reduce its reliance on fossil fuels while expanding access to modern energy across rural and remote communities.

President Prabowo’s administration is paving the way for a greener, more inclusive energy future—where no village is left in the dark.
