So, here's the deal—Cyberpunk 2077 is officially launching on macOS on July 17, and that sounds awesome... until you read the fine print.

CD Projekt RED finally confirmed that the game is coming to Macs, but before you get too hyped, there’s something you need to know: not every Mac is ready for this beast of a game. In fact, unless you’ve got one of the newest (and priciest) Mac models, you’re probably out of luck.

Technically, Cyberpunk 2077 can run on older M1 Macs. But don’t get too excited. Even if your M1 MacBook meets the minimum chip requirement, it also needs 16GB of RAM, or it just won’t launch. And even with the right RAM, you’ll only get 900p resolution at 30 FPS, with low graphics settings and mandatory upscaling. If you’ve got the base M1 MacBook Air with 8GB of RAM? Forget it—the game won’t run at all.

If you want a smoother, more stable experience, CDPR recommends a Mac with an M3 Pro chip or higher. But here’s the catch—those models start at around Rp25 million (roughly $1,500). On that hardware, you’ll get medium-to-high settings, near-Full HD resolution, but still with upscaling to help it look decent.

Now, if you’re aiming to play Cyberpunk on “very high” settings, you’ll need a Mac with an M3 Ultra or M4 Max chip—basically a powerhouse machine that costs at least Rp35 million (around $2,100). And even then, don’t expect 4K graphics. CDPR says the best you'll get is 2K resolution with features like MetalFX to smooth things out.

So yeah, the good news is Cyberpunk 2077 is finally coming to Mac. The bad news? It’s only really playable on high-end, premium Macs—the kind most people don’t just have lying around.

Bottom line?
Cyberpunk 2077 on macOS sounds exciting, but for most users, it’s more of a dream than reality. If you’ve got a base-level Mac, don’t expect much. But if you’ve invested in one of Apple’s top-tier machines, you're in for a solid (though still limited) experience.

Gaming on Mac is finally happening, but this launch makes one thing super clear: only the elite can really play.
