| Marvel Confirms New X-Men Cast and Future Tony Stark Replacement After Avengers: Secret Wars. |
Big news from the Marvel Universe! After Avengers: Secret Wars hits theaters in 2027, Marvel Studios plans to launch a brand-new X-Men movie with a fresh cast — and eventually, a new face will take on the role of Iron Man.
Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige revealed that the new X-Men film will be directed by Jake Schreier, known for Thunderbolts. Feige explained that this shift isn't a full reboot, but rather a "reshaping" of the Marvel universe inspired by the Secret Wars comic series from 2015. In those comics, alternate universes merged, creating a new reality with reimagined characters.
“Endgame was about endings. Secret Wars is about beginnings,” Feige said.
“We don’t think of it as a reboot. It’s more like a refresh — a unified timeline.”
Although original X-Men actors like Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen are set to appear in Avengers: Judgement Day, Marvel is moving forward with an entirely new cast for upcoming X-Men films. The story will return to its roots, focusing on young mutants who feel different — a theme Feige still considers essential.
Feige also confirmed that over time, other iconic roles like Tony Stark (Iron Man) and Steve Rogers (Captain America) will be recast as well.
“There will always be a new James Bond, a new Superman — and the same goes for the Marvel Cinematic Universe,” Feige explained.
But don’t worry, Marvel fans — Feige hasn’t ruled out future cameo appearances by Robert Downey Jr. or Chris Evans. However, the spotlight is now shifting to the next generation of heroes.
So, ready or not, the MCU is evolving. Get ready to meet the new X-Men — and a brand new Iron Man!
