New Church Inaugurated: Sanggau Government Reaffirms Support for Religious Life.

SANGGAU, INDONESIA – The Sanggau Regency Government has once again demonstrated its strong commitment to supporting the spiritual life of its people. This was marked by the official inauguration of St. Joseph Catholic Church (Stasi Sayok), located in Subah Village, Tayan Hilir District, on Sunday, July 20, 2025.

The inauguration was led by Sanggau Deputy Regent, Susana Herpena, S.Sos., M.H., who signed a commemorative plaque in the presence of Catholic congregants, local community leaders, and invited guests.

In her speech, the Deputy Regent expressed deep appreciation and gratitude for the completion of the church, which was built through the spirit of community cooperation.

“This church is not just a building—it’s a symbol of unity and the strength of our faith. What’s more important is building hearts and minds that reflect the teachings of Christ in daily life,” she said.

She emphasized that the construction of this place of worship aligns with the vision of a Progressive and Sustainable Sanggau, and supports the mission to strengthen religious harmony and tolerance.

The event continued with a special blessing ceremony led by Mgr. Valentinus Saeng, CP., Bishop of the Diocese of Sanggau. In his homily, the Bishop encouraged the faithful to make the church a central space for spiritual growth.

“God has given us six days to work. Use one day to worship, to come to church and nourish your soul. Our bodies may fade, but our spirit stays strong through faith,” he shared warmly.

The inauguration and blessing were celebrated with joy and solemnity. The Catholic community of Stasi Sayok welcomed the occasion as a historic milestone in their faith journey and a foundation for stronger community life.

With the establishment of St. Joseph Catholic Church, the hope is that the spirit of service, love, and religious tolerance will continue to flourish across the diverse society of Sanggau.
