Malaka, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) – A heartbreaking case of child sexual abuse has shocked the community of Besikama Village, located in West Malaka District, Malaka Regency. The incident occurred on Saturday, July 5, 2025, and was officially reported to the police three days later on July 8.

In response, the Malaka Police acted quickly. The Criminal Investigation Unit immediately launched a full investigation, which revealed horrifying details. The victim was allegedly abused repeatedly by multiple perpetrators.

"The police are here to serve and protect the public. And in cases like this, protecting children is our top priority," said the Head of Public Relations for the East Nusa Tenggara Police, Commissioner Henry Novika Chandra, during a press conference in Kupang on Thursday, July 16, 2025.

7 Suspects Arrested, 4 Fugitives Still at Large

Following a detailed investigation and with strong initial evidence, seven individuals have been named as suspects. They include five adult men, identified by their initials AS, GS, NN, RB, and DRL, along with two minors.

However, four other individuals involved are still on the run. They have been placed on the police’s most-wanted list, and officers are working hard to track them down.

Victim Receives Psychological Support

Beyond law enforcement, the Malaka Police are also working with the East Nusa Tenggara Regional Office for Women and Children Protection (PPA) to provide psychological support to the victim.

"We are not only focused on prosecuting the offenders but also on helping the victim heal. Justice includes emotional recovery," explained Commissioner Henry.

Legal Process Underway

The case files are currently being finalized so they can be submitted to the District Attorney’s Office as soon as possible. The police are committed to ensuring that the legal process runs smoothly and swiftly.

At the same time, the police are encouraging families and communities to play a bigger role in preventing child abuse. This includes educating children, monitoring their social environments, and, most importantly, speaking up if there are signs of abuse.

A Call to the Community: Speak Up, Report Abuse

"If you witness or suspect any form of child abuse, do not stay silent. Report it to the police. Your identity will be kept completely confidential," said Commissioner Henry.

This case is a powerful reminder that child protection is everyone’s responsibility. The police, especially in East Nusa Tenggara and Malaka, are fully committed to handling child abuse cases with professionalism, transparency, and a focus on justice.

There is no safe place for child predators in this country. Together, we can protect our children and build a safer future for the next generation.
