TNI Soldier Murdered in Mimika: What Really Happened? Here’s What We Know So Far. |
Mimika, Papua – Things got tense over the weekend when a TNI (Indonesian Army) soldier was found dead in the Bhintuka SP13 area, Kuala Kencana District, on Sunday, July 13, 2025. Now, both police and the military are on high alert, trying to figure out who’s behind this brutal killing.
According to Mimika Police Chief AKBP Billyandha Hildiario Budiman, the team has already inspected the crime scene with full support from the military and the Military Police (POM). They’re not taking this lightly—several witnesses have been questioned, and more leads are being followed up.
“We did a full crime scene investigation with TNI and POM involved. We’ve coordinated with their unit and already interviewed some witnesses. Right now, we’re still digging deeper,” said AKBP Billyandha, as quoted by papua60detik on Monday, July 14, 2025.
OPM Says “We Did It,” But Can We Trust That?
Shortly after the news broke, a statement from the OPM (Free Papua Organization) started circulating. Their spokesperson, Sebby Sambom, claimed the attack was done by TPNPB (West Papua National Liberation Army), under orders from Goliat Tabuni.
But here’s the catch—authorities aren’t buying it just yet.
“Don’t believe everything you read online. That info could totally be fake. We're still figuring out if this was just a criminal act or something linked to OPM,” said the police chief.
Basically, the cops are saying, “Hold up—let’s get the facts straight first.”
No Need to Panic – Mimika’s Still Safe
With news like this, it’s easy for people to freak out. But the police are urging everyone in Mimika to stay calm. Security forces are working closely with special task forces to keep everything under control.
“We’ve already coordinated with all related teams. People don’t need to stress. We’ve got this. Mimika is still safe and secure,” said Billyandha confidently.
So, What’s Next?
Right now, the investigation is ongoing. No one’s been arrested yet, and there’s still a lot of digging to do before any conclusions are made. The claim from OPM may just be noise—or maybe it’s not. Either way, the authorities are on it.
If you’re in the area or just following the news—don’t jump to conclusions. Only trust updates from official sources. Sharing unverified info (or worse, fake news) helps no one and can actually make things worse.
