Since 2020, the Indonesian government has been actively blocking illegal streaming websites due to copyright violations and user safety concerns. According to data from the Ministry of Communication and Information (Kominfo), over 2,300 illegal streaming sites have been taken down since early 2024. “We strongly encourage the public to switch to legal platforms, both for security reasons and to support content creators,” said Kominfo spokesperson Dedy Permadi during a press conference last month.
