The Palestinian issue has once again taken center stage after several Western countries, including the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, and Portugal, granted their official recognition of the State of Palestine

This milestone has sparked a wave of positive reactions across the Arab world, with many governments and regional organizations describing it as a turning point for Middle East peace.

Saudi Arabia: A True Commitment to Peace

Saudi Arabia was among the first to applaud the decision. Riyadh emphasized that this step highlights the sincere commitment of friendly nations to support the peace process and to advance the two-state solution backed by legitimate UN resolutions.

“This recognition affirms the genuine commitment of these countries to advancing peace and justice,” Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated.

Kuwait: A Call for More Countries to Follow

Kuwait also praised the move. In its official statement, Kuwait’s Foreign Ministry said that the recognition by the UK, Canada, Australia, and Portugal will strengthen the chances of peace in the region.

“We stress the importance of other nations taking similar steps to safeguard the region’s security, stability, and prosperity,” the statement added.

Kuwait’s message was clear: the recognition should not stop here, but rather inspire more nations to support Palestine’s sovereignty.

Oman: A Vital Development for Regional Security

Oman welcomed the decision as a highly significant development for the two-state solution and regional peace.

“Recognizing the State of Palestine guarantees the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people to establish their independent state based on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital,” Oman’s Foreign Ministry declared.

Jordan: King Abdullah II Applauds Australia

Jordan’s King Abdullah II also expressed appreciation, particularly for Australia’s stance. During his meeting with Prime Minister Anthony Albanese in New York, the Jordanian monarch praised the recognition as a reflection of the growing international will to end the occupation and secure Palestinian rights.

GCC: A Historic Milestone

The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), which represents six Arab states in the Gulf region, hailed the announcement as “a historic milestone in the pursuit of justice and international legitimacy.”

Growing Global Momentum for Palestine

The announcement came ahead of the UN General Assembly session. With the UK, Canada, Australia, and Portugal joining the list, nearly three-quarters of UN member states have now officially recognized Palestine. Last year, Ireland, Spain, and Norway also extended their recognition.

This growing momentum highlights the increasing global support for Palestinian sovereignty after decades of struggle.

A New Chapter for Peace in the Middle East

The official recognition of Palestine by these Western powers is seen as more than symbolic—it could pave the way for renewed peace talks and strengthen the case for the two-state solution.

With more and more countries granting official recognition of the State of Palestine, the hope for an independent and sovereign Palestinian state is becoming more tangible, offering a new chapter for peace and stability in the Middle East.
