Jakarta – Yandex.ru film online has recently become a hot topic among Indonesian netizens. The Russian-based platform is now seen as a new alternative for those who want to watch movies quickly, easily, and for free.
The trend began gaining traction in mid-2025, when online forums and social media started buzzing about how the site could be accessed from Indonesia without needing any additional apps.

A social media user, Budi (27), said Yandex.ru makes it easier for him to find something to watch when he’s bored.
“On other platforms, you need to register first. With Yandex, you just click and instantly search for movies. It’s super practical,” he told reporters on Friday (Sept 26, 2025).
Meanwhile, Indonesia’s Ministry of Communication and Informatics (Kominfo) reminded the public to stay cautious when accessing content through Yandex.ru.
According to its spokesperson, foreign sites offering free movies often raise issues related to copyright and user data security.
“We encourage the public to use official streaming services that guarantee legal content. Besides supporting the creative industry, legal access is also safer from malware risks or data leaks,” said the Kominfo official.
The trend of watching films via Yandex.ru is expected to keep growing, especially since more internet users are looking for free entertainment alternatives.
However, tech experts warn that if left unchecked, this could hurt local film industry revenues, which are still recovering after the pandemic.
This development poses a challenge for both the government and official streaming platforms to provide more affordable and user-friendly viewing options.
