Residents of Lima Puluh Kota Regency, West Sumatra, are still shaken by the brutal killing of a retired teacher identified by the initials LI (61). Police have confirmed that the suspect is still at large, and the investigation is ongoing.

The tragic incident took place in Jorong Talago, VII Koto Talago Nagari, Guguak District. Lima Puluh Kota Police Chief, AKBP Syaiful Wahid, emphasized that law enforcement is fully committed to solving the case.

“The investigation is still underway. We ask for prayers from the public,” AKBP Syaiful said on Monday (December 22, 2025).

He stressed that the police will use all available resources to uncover the perpetrator as well as the motive behind the murder. According to him, every lead is being thoroughly examined.

“Our investigators are working intensively. All possible efforts are being carried out and explored in depth. We are fully committed to resolving this case,” he stated firmly.

Based on preliminary information, the victim was found dead in the yard of her home on Friday morning (December 19, 2025). The incident reportedly began around 4:20 a.m. when the victim’s husband, YZ (62), left for the mosque to perform the dawn prayer. At that time, the victim was still at home and planned to follow later.

Around 5:20 a.m., the husband returned home and discovered that the electricity was off due to a tripped circuit breaker. After restoring the power, a witness named Risnal, who came to pick up a bag, was shocked to find the victim lying on the ground in the yard.

“The victim was found wearing a purple prayer garment. Her face was covered in blood, and she showed no signs of life,” AKBP Syaiful explained.

The witness immediately shouted for help, drawing the attention of nearby residents. The incident was then reported to the Guguak Police Station at around 6:45 a.m. for further investigation.

The case has left deep sorrow among the family and the local community, as the victim was known as a dedicated educator who had devoted her life to teaching. Residents are now hoping the suspect will be arrested soon so justice can be served and a sense of security can be restored.
