Sanggau Police have successfully uncovered the case involving the disposal of a newborn baby boy whose body was discovered in the Riam River, located on Semboja Indah Two Street, Bunut Sub-district, Kapuas District, Sanggau Regency.

The case was solved by a joint team from Sanggau Police and Kapuas Sector Police following an intensive investigation after the discovery shocked local residents.

The breakthrough came on Monday night, January 19, 2026, at around 11:55 p.m. local time. Police moved quickly after receiving reports from the public and initial findings at the scene.

During the crime scene investigation, officers found the baby’s placenta behind a boarding house with five rooms. This discovery became a crucial clue that led investigators to focus on the occupants of the building.

Most of the residents were high school students. Further examination revealed bloodstains on the kitchen door of room number three.

That room was occupied by a 19-year-old woman identified by the initials LF. During questioning, she eventually admitted to disposing of the baby boy she had just given birth to.

Sanggau Police Public Relations Chief, AKP Keken Sukendar, stated that the case is being handled professionally and in accordance with legal procedures.

He emphasized that every stage of the investigation and prosecution is being carried out transparently and with full accountability.

The suspect is currently being held at Sanggau Police Headquarters for further questioning, as the investigation continues.

This tragic case serves as a serious reminder of the importance of guidance, education, and support for young people to help prevent similar incidents in the future.
