Residents of Bokak Hamlet, Bokak Sebumbun Village, Sekadau Hilir District, Sekadau Regency, were left in shock after a heartbreaking discovery on Monday night (February 2, 2026). A newborn baby boy, believed to have just been born, was found alone inside a small shop room.

The incident occurred at around 9:00 PM local time, when a shop assistant named Yuni entered the room to clean. She was stunned to find a baby lying there with no parents or adults in sight.

Realizing the seriousness of the situation, Yuni immediately reported her finding to the shop owner. Within minutes, the news spread among nearby residents, turning a normally quiet night into a scene filled with concern and disbelief.

The shop owner, Berty, admitted he had no knowledge about the baby’s presence or the identity of the parents. He said the report from his employee came as a complete shock.

“I was very surprised when my assistant told me. I have no idea who the baby’s parents are,” Berty told local media.

Fortunately, the baby boy was found in stable and healthy condition. To ensure his safety, residents and the shop owner quickly took the infant to the nearest clinic for medical examination and proper care.

Meanwhile, local police have stepped in and are currently conducting an investigation. Authorities are working to uncover the identity and whereabouts of the baby’s parents, as well as the circumstances surrounding the suspected abandonment.

This incident has sparked deep concern among local residents. Many hope the baby will receive proper protection and a better future ahead. The case also serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of responsibility, care, and compassion toward every child from the very beginning of life.
