SEKADAU — A man identified by the initials AN is allegedly linked to several illegal gold mining rafts operating in Desa Tanjung, Sekadau Hilir District, Sekadau Regency, West Kalimantan. The allegations surfaced after the Cekfakta media team received information regarding unauthorized mining activities in the area.

AN is also suspected of being involved in the buying and selling of gold produced from the alleged illegal mining operations. Information gathered by the media team claims AN has long been associated with unlicensed mining activities in West Kalimantan.

The alleged illegal mining activities have once again drawn attention to law enforcement efforts in Sekadau Regency. The Cekfakta media team questioned why the reported activities linked to AN have allegedly remained untouched by legal action.

According to information obtained by the media, AN is reportedly a resident of Sintang, West Kalimantan. The situation has raised further questions about how AN was allegedly able to operate within Sekadau’s jurisdiction.

The media team also questioned whether there may be individuals backing the alleged illegal mining activities, allowing them to continue operating.

“If these allegations are true, the situation is deeply concerning,” the Cekfakta media team stated in its report.

As of publication, the media team said it is still waiting for an official response from law enforcement authorities in Sekadau Regency regarding the alleged illegal mining activities.

The alleged illegal mining and gold trading activities have become a public concern, as unlicensed mining is considered harmful to the environment and disruptive to lawful mining governance.

The Cekfakta media team stated it will continue seeking clarification from local authorities before escalating the matter to higher levels.
