| The search for Sulyadi, who went missing while fishing in Batu Ampar, Kubu Raya, has entered its fifth day as SAR teams and police continue expanding the search operation. |
The Joint Search and Rescue (SAR) Team, officers from Batu Ampar Police Sector, and local residents continue searching for Sulyadi (41), who went missing while fishing in the waters of Karang Anyar Hamlet, Batu Ampar Village, Kubu Raya Regency, West Kalimantan. As of Friday (June 26, 2026), the search has entered its fifth day.
Sulyadi disappeared without a trace several days ago. The area where he went missing is known as a natural habitat for saltwater crocodiles and has long been considered a high-risk zone for human-wildlife encounters.
Aiptu Ade, Head of Public Information Subsection of Kubu Raya Police, said the search operation has been intensified by expanding the search radius around the location where the victim was last seen.
"As of today, the search for Sulyadi has entered its fifth day. Personnel from Kubu Raya Police, the Joint SAR Team, and local residents continue conducting intensive sweeps around the incident area while expanding the search radius," Ade said.
The operation has been divided into several key sectors to maximize observations on the water's surface as well as along the densely vegetated riverbanks.
Despite difficult terrain and the high risks associated with the river environment, the joint team remains committed to locating the missing man.
Police have also urged residents to exercise extreme caution when carrying out activities along the Batu Ampar River, which is recognized as a natural habitat for saltwater crocodiles.
"We strongly urge all residents, especially those who frequently carry out activities around Batu Ampar waters, to remain vigilant. The area is a natural habitat for saltwater crocodiles," Ade added.
As of the fifth day of operations, Sulyadi has not yet been found. The Joint SAR Team, police officers, and local volunteers will continue searching the Batu Ampar waters.
