“Nine basic commodities experienced an increase due to high demand from the public. Based on coordination with the Kulon Progo Agriculture and Food Service (DPP), the condition of basic commodities is in a surplus even though prices have increased," said Sudarna. Ramadhan rose to Rp37,500 per kilogram, chicken meat from Rp33,883 rose to Rp37,334 per kilogram, imported soybeans from Rp12,080 rose to Rp12,500 per kilogram, and local soybeans increased from Rp11,983 to 12,667 per kilogram. Kulon Progo Regent Sutedjo asked the Ministry of Meat and Agriculture and Food Service to work together to overcome the spike in prices of basic needs in the community during this Ramadan. Price increases below 25 percent are still reasonable, the most important thing is that the availability of basic needs is safe.

BorneoTribun Jakarta - The government through the Ministry of Trade (Kemendag) implements the Domestic Market Obligation (DMO) and Domestic Price Obligation (DPO) policies to maintain and meet the availability of cooking oil at affordable prices.

The policy, which was implemented starting January 27, 2022, was implemented taking into account the results of the evaluation of the implementation of the one-price cooking oil policy that had been going on for the past week.

The Minister of Trade Muhammad Lutfi revealed that the DMO policy mechanism or the obligation to supply domestically is mandatory for all cooking oil producers who will export.

Later, all exporters who will export are required to supply domestic cooking oil of 20 percent of their respective export volumes.

Muhammad Lutfi explained that the national demand for cooking oil in 2022 is 5.7 million kiloliters.

Household needs are estimated at 3.9 million kilo liters, consisting of 1.2 million kilo liters of premium packaging, 231 thousand kilo liters of simple packaging, and 2.4 million kilo liters of bulk.

"For industrial needs, there are 1.8 million kiloliters," said Lutfi.

Furthermore, said Muhammad Lutfi, that in line with the implementation of the DMO policy, his party will also implement the DPO policy which has been set at Rp9,300 per kilogram for CPO and Rp10,300 per liter for olein.

With the DMO and DPO policies, continued the Minister of Trade, domestically, the Highest Retail Price (HET) for cooking oil will be applied with details, bulk cooking oil Rp11,500 per liter, simple packaged cooking oil Rp13,500. per liter, and premium packaged cooking oil Rp. 14,000 per liter. This HET policy will take effect from February 1, 2022.

Luthfi also said, during the transition period that lasts until February 1, 2022, the cooking oil policy for one price of Rp. 14,000 per liter remains in effect.

"This is taking into account the time allowed for adjustment and management of cooking oil stocks at the level of traders to retailers," he explained.

The Minister of Trade instructed producers to accelerate the distribution of cooking oil and ensure that there were no vacancies at the level of traders and retailers, both in traditional and modern retail markets.

He again appealed to the public to remain wise in buying and not to panic buying because the government guarantees that cooking oil stocks will remain available at affordable prices.

In addition, he said, the government will also take very strict legal steps for business actors who violate the provisions.

It is hoped that with the implementation of this policy, the community will still be able to get cooking oil at affordable prices and still benefit from traders and producers.

"With this policy, we hope that cooking oil prices can be more stable and affordable to the public, and remain profitable for small traders, distributors, and producers," he concluded.
