The Banjarbaru City Government in South Kalimantan conducted surprise inspections at several gas stations on Wednesday following long vehicle lines, aiming to ensure fuel supplies remain stable.

Banjarbaru Mayor Erna Lisa Halaby visited the sites alongside local government officials and police officers to monitor conditions at three gas stations experiencing heavy congestion across the city.

The inspections focused on gas stations located on Trikora Street, Pelaihari Road Km 21.7 in Liang Anggang, and Mistar Cokrokusumo Street in Cempaka.

The city government said the inspections were carried out to make sure the long queues were not caused by disruptions in fuel distribution or shortages that could trigger public panic buying.

During the visits, the mayor also spoke with gas station staff and monitored fuel distribution activities to ensure public services continued operating normally.

The Banjarbaru administration, together with police personnel, deployed joint officers at several gas stations considered prone to traffic congestion due to vehicle queues.

Personnel from local police units, traffic police, municipal public order officers, and Sabhara units were assigned to manage traffic flow so queues would remain orderly and not spill onto public roads.

“Today, together with officials and the Banjarbaru Police Chief, we went directly to the field to monitor and follow up on public complaints regarding the long lines at gas stations,” Erna Lisa Halaby said in Banjarbaru on Wednesday.

Lisa assured residents that fuel supplies in Banjarbaru remain secure.

“We are here to ensure fuel availability for Banjarbaru. God willing, the supply is safe because the regional government guarantees national fuel stocks remain secure,” she said.

She also urged residents to stay calm so city activities would not be disrupted by the queues.

“We want the public to remain calm and city activities not to be disrupted simply because of lines at gas stations,” Lisa added.

The Banjarbaru City Government said monitoring of fuel distribution will continue regularly to maintain supply stability and prevent social impacts caused by panic buying.

Coordination with police authorities will also continue to ensure traffic around crowded gas stations remains under control.

South Kalimantan Police on Wednesday formed a Security Reinforcement Task Force to prevent the illegal distribution of subsidized fuel at gas stations in Banjarbaru. The move followed protests by hundreds of truck drivers over difficulties obtaining subsidized diesel fuel.

South Kalimantan Police Head of Operations Sr. Comr. Eko Irianto said the task force was deployed to maintain security and ensure orderly vehicle queues at gas stations while taking action against fuel smuggling practices.

“This task force is stationed at gas stations to ensure security, maintain smooth vehicle queues, and crack down on illegal fuel distribution,” Eko said while meeting protesters outside the South Kalimantan Governor’s Office.

Eko stated that he personally led the task force alongside regional government officials and the Indonesian Military (TNI). He also urged the public, especially truck drivers, to report any acts of thuggery or suspected hoarding of subsidized fuel.

According to him, reports regarding warehouses allegedly used to stockpile subsidized diesel would be followed up immediately by authorities.

“I have instructed all police chiefs in their respective regions to ensure there are no illegal practices at gas stations. If any officers are found involved, the Internal Affairs Division will step in,” he said.

Eko represented South Kalimantan Police Chief Insp. Gen. Rosyanto Yudha Hermawan, who is currently on duty in Jakarta, in meeting the protesters. During the demonstration, the truck drivers urged both the regional government and police to ensure stable diesel fuel distribution.

The drivers complained about difficulties obtaining subsidized diesel at several gas stations. They also called on authorities to eliminate alleged fuel misuse that they said has disrupted freight transportation operations.

South Kalimantan Provincial Secretary Muhammad Syarifuddin said the regional government would immediately coordinate with all related parties to resolve the issue surrounding subsidized fuel distribution.

“None of us wants to see misuse of subsidized fuel because it is the people’s right to access it,” Syarifuddin said.

Authorities have now tightened supervision at gas stations in an effort to ensure subsidized diesel distribution reaches eligible users and to reduce long vehicle queues.

“English Teacher” 6-Minute Video Goes Viral on TikTok and X, Users Warned About Phishing Links

The viral “English Teacher” 6-minute video has spread across TikTok and X, prompting warnings over phishing links and potential personal data theft risks.
The viral “English Teacher” 6-minute video has spread across TikTok and X, prompting warnings over phishing links and potential personal data theft risks.

Searches for a so-called six-minute “English Teacher” video surged across TikTok and X in recent days after anonymous accounts shared short clips designed to spark public curiosity.

The circulating footage shows a woman in what appears to be an official uniform alongside a man wearing a white shirt in a school setting. The captions attached to the clips were intentionally vague and lacked full context.

The trend gained momentum after multiple accounts posted teaser clips claiming to offer the “full 6-minute video.” One scene, particularly around the second minute, quickly became the focus of online discussion.

However, there has been no verified evidence confirming that a complete version of the video actually exists as widely claimed on social media. Many users believe the content may simply be bait intended to attract clicks and engagement.

Another censored clip circulating on X allegedly showed inappropriate behavior involving the male figure in the video. The footage further fueled online speculation and increased public attention around the topic.

The viral spread has also raised concerns about suspicious links being distributed alongside the trending searches.

Cybersecurity experts warned that the phenomenon may be tied to phishing schemes designed to exploit public curiosity online.

The tactic commonly involves sharing links labeled as the “full 6-minute video” while encouraging users to click external URLs or contact anonymous accounts through direct messages.

Bot-generated comments are also reportedly used to convince users that the video is real and accessible. In many cases, the links redirect users to dangerous websites capable of stealing personal information, device data, and digital account access.

The viral “English Teacher” trend highlights how clickbait content is increasingly being used as an entry point for cybercrime. Online curiosity can easily become a gateway to digital fraud and personal data theft.

Internet users are advised to avoid clicking suspicious links from unverified sources and to be cautious of sensational content that lacks confirmation. Reviewing account credibility, user feedback, and app permissions can help reduce the risk of data leaks and cyber threats.

KPK Charges Former HSU Prosecutor Office Chief Albertinus Napitupulu in Banjarmasin Court

KPK charged former HSU Prosecutor’s Office chief Albertinus Napitupulu with multiple corruption offenses during his first court hearing in Banjarmasin.
KPK charged former HSU Prosecutor’s Office chief Albertinus Napitupulu with multiple corruption offenses during his first court hearing in Banjarmasin.

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) on Tuesday charged former Hulu Sungai Utara (HSU) District Prosecutor’s Office chief Albertinus Parlinggoman Napitupulu with multiple corruption-related offenses during his first court hearing at the Banjarmasin District Court.

Two former HSU Prosecutor’s Office officials, ex-Intelligence Section head Asis Budianto and former Civil and State Administration Section head Tri Taruna Fariadi, were also indicted in the case stemming from a KPK sting operation conducted in December 2025.

KPK prosecutor Muhammad Hadi said Albertinus was charged under three separate articles of Indonesia’s anti-corruption law.

The first indictment relates to Article 12(e) in conjunction with Article 18 of Law No. 31/1999 on Corruption Eradication, as amended by Law No. 20/2001, in conjunction with Article 127 paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code.

The second charge was filed under Article 12(f) in conjunction with Article 18 of the Anti-Corruption Law and Article 127 paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code.

The third indictment concerns Article 12(B) in conjunction with Article 18 of the Anti-Corruption Law and Article 127 paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code.

“Defendant Albertinus Parlinggoman Napitupulu has been charged cumulatively,” KPK prosecutor Muhammad Hadi told the court.

Asis Budianto and Tri Taruna Fariadi were also charged cumulatively. Both were indicted under Article 12(e) and Article 12(B) of the Anti-Corruption Law.

During the hearing, only Tri Taruna filed an objection, or legal exception, against the prosecutors’ indictment. Albertinus and Asis did not submit any objections.

KPK prosecutors also disclosed the alleged amount of gratification and extortion included in the indictment.

In the first charge involving alleged abuse of office and extortion tied to all three defendants, the amount cited reached Rp894 million.

The second charge, which only targeted Albertinus and involved alleged direct extortion, stated that he allegedly received Rp257.5 million.

Meanwhile, the third charge involving alleged gratification amounted to Rp822.8 million.

KPK prosecutors said dozens of witnesses have been prepared to testify during the trial proceedings.

Chief Judge Aries Dedi adjourned the hearing after the indictment was read and scheduled the next session for May 21, 2026.

The case originated from a KPK sting operation on Dec. 18, 2025, involving allegations of extortion against several officials and parties within the Hulu Sungai Utara regional administration.

Illegal Gold Mining Continues Across West Kalimantan, Environmental Damage Raises Concern

Illegal gold mining activities in West Kalimantan continue to spread, causing environmental damage, health concerns, and renewed scrutiny over law enforcement efforts.
Illegal gold mining activities in West Kalimantan continue to spread, causing environmental damage, health concerns, and renewed scrutiny over law enforcement efforts.

Illegal gold mining activities, widely known in Indonesia as PETI (Penambangan Emas Tanpa Izin), continue to operate across multiple regions in West Kalimantan, raising concerns over environmental destruction, public health risks, and the effectiveness of law enforcement efforts in the province.

The issue has reportedly persisted for years, with illegal mining sites believed to exist in nearly every regency across West Kalimantan. The ongoing operations have triggered growing public criticism over the inability of authorities to stop the activity.

According to information gathered by the BorneoTribun Fact Check Team, there are allegations of weekly payments linked to illegal mining operations. The alleged payments are estimated to range between Rp1 million and Rp2 million per week for a single mining unit.

The number of illegal mining units operating across West Kalimantan is also suspected to exceed 2,000 sets, further fueling concerns about weak oversight and enforcement.

Rivers and Ecosystems Under Threat

Environmental damage has become one of the biggest concerns surrounding illegal gold mining activities in the region.

Several rivers are believed to have been heavily affected by mining operations, with muddy water and sedimentation increasingly visible in areas near mining sites. Communities that rely on rivers for daily water use are now facing the risk of contamination and long-term environmental degradation.

Land destruction around mining areas has also raised fears about the future impact on local ecosystems and surrounding villages.

The situation has created a difficult debate among residents. On one side, illegal mining is viewed as a source of income and economic survival. On the other, the environmental and health consequences continue to grow.

Health Risks for Nearby Communities

Residents living near illegal mining locations are also feared to face increasing health risks.

Polluted river water and environmental contamination could potentially affect communities that depend on local water sources for bathing, washing, and other daily activities.

The worsening condition of rivers in several parts of West Kalimantan has intensified public concern about the long-term health impact of illegal mining operations.

Allegations of Protection and Illegal Payments

The report also alleges that several individuals linked to law enforcement and village-level public service institutions may have allowed illegal mining activities to continue operating.

An expression commonly referred to as “masuk angin” has also surfaced in public discussions, allegedly referring to informal payment practices connected to illegal mining activities.

However, no official response has yet been issued regarding the allegations.

Leadership Change at West Kalimantan Police

Meanwhile, the position of West Kalimantan Police Chief is expected to change hands from Inspector General Pipit Rismanto to Inspector General Alberd Teddy Benhard Sianipar.

The leadership transition has drawn public attention amid ongoing concerns over illegal gold mining activities throughout the province.

Many residents are now waiting to see whether the new leadership will bring stronger law enforcement measures against illegal mining operations or whether the same long-standing problems will continue under a different administration.

BorneoTribun Claims to Hold Evidence

The BorneoTribun Fact Check Team stated that it has obtained photos and videos allegedly showing illegal gold mining activities in several areas across West Kalimantan.

At the same time, the team acknowledged that the findings may still be disputed by certain parties connected to the issue.

Complaints about services at RSUD MTh Djaman Sanggau are trending on social media, with residents criticizing BPJS medication shortages and hospital facilities.
Complaints about services at RSUD MTh Djaman Sanggau are trending on social media, with residents criticizing BPJS medication shortages and hospital facilities.

Public complaints regarding healthcare services at RSUD MTh Djaman in Sanggau Regency, West Kalimantan, have gained widespread attention on social media in recent days. Several residents shared their experiences on Facebook, criticizing BPJS-related services and basic hospital facilities.

One of the main issues highlighted by residents concerns the availability of medication for BPJS patients. Several users claimed they were repeatedly informed that prescribed medicines were out of stock and were instructed to purchase them at private pharmacies.

“I don’t understand it. Every time I come here using BPJS, they always say the medicine is unavailable and tell me to buy it at a private pharmacy,” one resident wrote while posting a photo of RSUD MTh Djaman.

The post quickly sparked reactions from other Facebook users. Many claimed they had experienced similar situations while seeking treatment at the hospital.

Some comments also raised allegations of a lack of transparency involving cooperation between the hospital and certain pharmacies. However, no official explanation has been provided regarding those claims.

In addition to medication issues, complaints also emerged from families of inpatients regarding bathroom access and facility usage.

One resident expressed frustration after allegedly being told that hospital toilets could not be used for bathing by patient attendants.

“How does this make sense? We are staying here for inpatient treatment, but we are not allowed to use the bathroom for bathing. We don’t have family or a house nearby. Are we supposed to travel five hours back to our village just to take a shower?” the resident wrote.

Other complaints in the comment section included concerns about toilet cleanliness and the availability of wheelchairs for patients.

Discussions surrounding healthcare services at RSUD MTh Djaman continue to grow on social media and have attracted significant public attention in Sanggau Regency.

As of publication, the management of RSUD MTh Djaman had not issued an official response to the complaints. Media attempts to seek confirmation through direct messages were reportedly seen but had not received a reply.

The growing number of complaints on social media is expected to draw attention from relevant authorities to evaluate and improve healthcare services at RSUD MTh Djaman.

The public response also reflects strong community expectations for proper healthcare access and adequate facilities, especially for BPJS patients and families of hospitalized patients.

Pontianak Becomes UCLG ASPAC Member, Strengthens Position in Asia-Pacific

Pontianak officially joins UCLG ASPAC to expand international cooperation and strengthen sustainable urban development efforts across the Asia-Pacific region.
Pontianak officially joins UCLG ASPAC to expand international cooperation and strengthen sustainable urban development efforts across the Asia-Pacific region.

Pontianak officially joined the United Cities and Local Governments Asia Pacific (UCLG ASPAC), marking a major step in expanding international cooperation and strengthening the city’s position on the global stage. The announcement was delivered by Pontianak Regional Secretary Amirullah during the UCLG ASPAC Executive Bureau and The Asia Pacific Forum 2026 at Hotel Claro Kendari on Friday night, May 8, 2026.

Amirullah said the city’s inclusion in the largest local government organization in the Asia-Pacific region represents an important milestone for Pontianak as it seeks to broaden global partnerships and increase its international engagement.

“On behalf of the Pontianak City Government and the people of Pontianak, we would like to express our deepest gratitude to UCLG ASPAC for officially welcoming Pontianak into this organization,” he said.

According to him, the membership is more than an administrative achievement. It also carries a significant responsibility for Pontianak to contribute to solving global challenges alongside other cities across the Asia-Pacific region.

He emphasized that issues such as climate change, rapid urbanization, and social inequality cannot be solved by a single city or country alone.

“We believe solutions to the world’s greatest challenges, including climate change, inequality, and urbanization, are built from the ground up — city by city, community by community,” Amirullah stated.

Membership in UCLG ASPAC also gives Pontianak broader opportunities to expand international networks, exchange knowledge, and access technical assistance as well as green financing for environmentally sustainable urban development.

Pontianak’s path toward global collaboration began in late 2021 when the city was selected as one of four Indonesian pilot cities in the Global Covenant of Mayors for Climate and Energy (GCoM) program.

At the time, Pontianak was the only city from Kalimantan recognized for its strong commitment to climate mitigation and adaptation efforts.

With support from UCLG ASPAC as the regional secretariat for GCoM, Pontianak continued to make progress in sustainable development initiatives. The city earned the GCoM Compliance Badge in May 2025 after meeting global standards in preparing climate action plans.

Several programs implemented in Pontianak, including integrated waste management and flood mitigation initiatives, have also started gaining attention as best-practice examples for mid-sized cities across Southeast Asia.

As an active member of UCLG ASPAC, Pontianak now has wider access to collaboration with international experts to strengthen urban infrastructure and improve resilience against climate change and environmental threats.

The membership also positions Pontianak as an emerging model city in the Asia-Pacific region for sustainable, inclusive, and low-emission urban development.

Sekadau Police evacuated a resident of Gonis Tekam Village, Sekadau Hilir District, Sekadau Regency, who suddenly suffered from appendicitis on Thursday (May 7, 2026) night. The patient was taken to Sekadau Hospital using a police patrol car after the family struggled to find transportation during the emergency.

The request for assistance was received by the Sekadau Police SPKT post at around 11:13 p.m. local time. After receiving the report, Samapta II officers led by IPDA Hendra immediately headed to the location.

Sekadau Police SPKT officer IPDA Subhan Syah Khan said officers found the resident, identified as Wayan, in severe pain and in urgent need of medical treatment.

“Without delay, officers immediately transported the patient to Sekadau Hospital using a Samapta patrol vehicle,” IPDA Subhan said on Friday (May 8).

The evacuation took place late at night when the patient’s family was unable to secure transportation to the hospital. The situation prompted the family to seek help from the police.

Sekadau Police Chief AKBP Andhika Wiratama, through Public Relations officer AKP Triyono, said the quick response reflected the police’s commitment to serving the community, especially in humanitarian emergencies.

“In emergency situations, particularly at night when residents face difficulties finding transportation or assistance, the presence of police officers is expected to help people who urgently need support,” AKP Triyono said.

The incident highlighted the rapid response of Sekadau Police officers in assisting residents during medical emergencies, especially when transportation access is limited at night.

A More Honest Way To Compare Image Generators

A More Honest Way To Compare Image Generators
A More Honest Way To Compare Image Generators.

The usual way to compare AI image tools is too shallow. People generate one fantasy portrait, one product mockup, one dramatic poster, and then declare a winner. I wanted a slower and more honest test, so I used AI Image Maker alongside several popular platforms and judged them by how they behaved when the work became repetitive, ordinary, and slightly messy.

That kind of testing is less glamorous, but it is closer to real use. Most creators do not need one perfect image once. They need a tool that can help them move through drafts, mistakes, variations, reference images, and practical output decisions. A platform that feels exciting for five minutes can become frustrating if it does not support that rhythm.

A More Honest Way To Compare Image Generators
A More Honest Way To Compare Image Generators.

In this comparison, I looked at AIImage.app, Midjourney, Playground AI, Adobe Firefly, Freepik AI, and Canva AI. I gave each tool a similar set of tasks: generate a lifestyle product image, create a social media concept, turn a text idea into a cinematic image, test a reference-image direction where possible, and observe how clean the interface felt over multiple sessions.

The part that made AIImage.app different was its broader creative structure. The official site presents it as a platform for image generation, photo transformation, image-to-image workflows, and AI video or image-to-video related creation. It also presents GPT Image 2 as a model for more structured and detailed image generation, which made the platform feel less like a single-purpose generator and more like a flexible visual workspace.

That distinction shaped my final ranking. I was not trying to find the tool that made the most dramatic image in isolation. I was looking for the tool that felt most dependable when a user had to keep creating, comparing, and adjusting.

The Difference Between Output And Experience

Image quality is important, but it is not the whole product. A great output can be surrounded by a weak experience. A confusing interface can make a strong model feel less useful. Slow loading can make users abandon ideas before they develop. Ads or visual clutter can make a platform feel less trustworthy, even when the generated image is technically good.

This is where my opinion shifted during testing. At first, I expected the strongest artistic generator to win. But after several rounds, the broader experience became harder to ignore. The tool I wanted to return to was not always the one with the most impressive single image. It was the one that let me think clearly while working.

AIImage.app scored well because it seemed built around multiple realistic entry points. Users can describe a scene, upload an image, explore transformation, or move toward video-related creation. That range made the platform feel adaptable without becoming overly complicated.

A Test Built Around Real User Pressure

I divided the comparison into three situations: fast ideation, controlled revision, and practical publishing support. Fast ideation tested whether a tool could quickly turn a rough concept into something visual. Controlled revision tested whether the user could move from a first result to a more useful second result. Publishing support tested whether the platform felt clean enough for people producing visuals regularly.

Why First Drafts Are Not Enough

First drafts are often misleading in AI image generation. A tool may create a strong first image by chance, but the real question is whether the user can guide it. Can you keep the subject direction? Can you change the style without starting over emotionally? Can you test another model path without leaving the whole workflow?

The Hidden Value Of Staying Oriented

Staying oriented is a major part of productivity. If a platform makes users constantly wonder where to go next, it breaks the creative state. AIImage.app felt stronger than many competitors here because the official site clearly separates image creation, image transformation, and video-related directions while still keeping them under one platform identity.

That clarity helped me understand why the platform placed first in the final score. It was not because it destroyed every competitor in image quality. It was because it reduced the number of moments where the tool itself became the problem.

A More Honest Way To Compare Image Generators
A More Honest Way To Compare Image Generators

Comparison Table For Practical Image Creation

The following table summarizes my working impression across the five required dimensions. The scores are deliberately restrained because each platform has legitimate strengths.

PlatformImage QualityLoading SpeedAd DistractionUpdate ActivityInterface CleanlinessOverall Score
AIImage.app8.88.99.08.88.98.9
Midjourney9.27.38.88.47.08.2
Playground AI8.08.27.37.87.57.8
Adobe Firefly8.38.58.98.38.88.2
Freepik AI7.98.47.88.08.17.9
Canva AI7.88.88.48.28.78.0

Midjourney still felt strongest for certain artistic results. Adobe Firefly felt polished and reassuring for design-adjacent users. Canva AI remained convenient for quick visual content. But AIImage.app had the best balance across the complete set of criteria. It looked strong enough in quality and unusually steady in usability.

What AIImage Did Better In Daily Testing

The first thing I appreciated was that AIImage.app did not force every task into the same narrow pattern. Some platforms feel as if every creative problem must become a text prompt. AIImage.app feels more flexible because the official site includes both text-based creation and uploaded-image transformation.

That matters for practical users. If you already have a reference image, you may not want to describe everything from scratch. If you need a variation of a visual direction, image-to-image work can feel more natural. If your still image later needs motion, the video-related path gives the platform a longer creative runway.

The second strength was how the platform presents multiple AI image and video models. I do not treat model variety as a magic solution, but it gives users room to match the task to the tool. A structured image, a fast draft, a transformed reference, and a video-oriented idea may each benefit from a different model direction.

The Official Workflow In Four Steps

The platform’s workflow can be described without adding features that the site does not claim:

  1. Choose an image, image editing, or video-related creation path.

  2. Enter a text prompt or upload a reference image when needed.

  3. Select an available AI image or video model when appropriate.

  4. Generate the result, review it, compare options, download, or keep refining.

This is the kind of workflow that helps both beginners and experienced creators. Beginners can start with the obvious path. More advanced users can test model choices, reference images, and follow-up directions.

Where Other Platforms Still Make Sense

A fair comparison should not pretend every user needs the same winner. Midjourney remains a strong choice for creators who prioritize distinctive artistic style and are comfortable with its workflow. Adobe Firefly may fit people who already work in a design-centered environment. Canva AI can be useful when the image is only one part of a larger social media layout. Freepik AI may appeal to users who want broader asset-oriented workflows.

AIImage.app wins my overall ranking because it fits a wider range of image creation situations, but that does not mean it replaces every specialist. Its advantage is practical balance, not absolute dominance.

When AIImage May Feel Too Broad

Some users prefer a tool with one very opinionated creative identity. AIImage.app may feel broader than that. Its multiple paths are useful, but users who only want one specific style may need to experiment before finding their preferred route.

That experimentation is not necessarily negative. It is simply part of using a platform that offers more than one creation mode.

Best Fit For Repeat Visual Creation

A More Honest Way To Compare Image Generators
A More Honest Way To Compare Image Generators

AIImage.app is best for people who need to create varied visual material often. This includes small marketing teams, content creators, bloggers, educators, ecommerce sellers, and independent designers who need images for different contexts.

It also fits users who care about interface cleanliness. A clean interface does not make the art by itself, but it protects concentration. In a crowded category where many tools try to win attention through noise, that quieter strength becomes meaningful.

The Most Useful Winner Is Usually Balanced

After comparing these tools, I would not advise choosing an AI image platform only by the most beautiful sample. That method ignores too much. It ignores how long the result took, how easy it was to revise, how distracting the page felt, and whether the tool still seemed useful after the first experiment.

AIImage.app ranked first because it performed well across the full experience. It combined strong image quality, good working speed, low distraction, visible product activity, and a clean enough interface to support repeated use. That may not sound as dramatic as claiming one tool changes everything, but it is a more believable reason to choose it.

Kim Jong Un Oversees Combat Trial Of North Korea’s New Destroyer

North Korea tested its new Choe Hyon destroyer equipped with advanced weapon systems to strengthen the country’s naval military power.
North Korea tested its new Choe Hyon destroyer equipped with advanced weapon systems to strengthen the country’s naval military power.

North Korea has once again drawn global attention after conducting a weapons test involving its newest destroyer named Choe Hyon. The warship reportedly underwent a series of advanced combat system trials aimed at strengthening the country’s naval defense capabilities, Friday, (8/5/2026).

According to state media reports, the testing focused on evaluating the readiness of multiple combat systems installed on the vessel. The trials reportedly included missile systems, air defense technology, and long-range naval strike capabilities.

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un was said to have personally observed the testing process. He emphasized that strengthening naval power remains an important part of the country’s broader national defense strategy amid ongoing regional security tensions.

The Choe Hyon destroyer is believed to be one of North Korea’s latest military projects designed to carry more advanced combat capabilities compared to previous naval assets. The launch of the vessel also signals Pyongyang’s continued focus on expanding its military technology development.

Analysts believe the latest move could attract serious attention from countries across East Asia. The development of a modern warship equipped with advanced weapons is viewed as a potential factor that may influence the regional maritime balance of power.

The weapons test also comes amid rising military activity in the region. North Korea has repeatedly stated that strengthening its defense systems is a response to military exercises and external pressure from rival nations.

Despite the growing tensions, several international parties continue calling for diplomatic solutions to maintain regional stability. They hope the situation will not escalate into a larger conflict.

Through the Choe Hyon testing program, North Korea appears determined to continue modernizing its naval military capabilities while reinforcing its strategic position in East Asia.
