In an important move to fight drug trafficking, the Narcotics Directorate of Metro Jaya Police recently uncovered a major drug operation in North Jakarta. Officers arrested a 32-year-old man, identified as JS, at a boarding house in the Teluk Gong area of Penjaringan.

According to AKP Edy Lestari, head of Unit 5 Sub-Directorate 3 of the Narcotics Directorate, police seized a total of 1,162 ecstasy pills during the operation. The pills came in different forms—some were whole, others were crushed or turned into powder.

"This operation started after we received a tip from local residents about suspicious activity at the boarding house," said Edy in a written statement on Tuesday, May 20, 2025.

After investigating the report, the police moved in and arrested JS, who is now in custody at Metro Jaya Police Headquarters. He is currently undergoing further questioning to help uncover the full network behind the drug operation.

The investigation is still ongoing, and the police are working hard to track down other individuals who may be connected to the drug ring.

But here's the most impactful part—this single operation is believed to have saved around 1,000 lives by preventing these dangerous drugs from hitting the streets.

It’s a powerful reminder of how vital community support is in fighting drugs. The tip-off from a concerned citizen made a huge difference. If you see something that feels off in your neighborhood, don’t hesitate to report it. Your voice could help protect lives.

Huge respect to the officers involved in this bust—they’re not just enforcing the law, they’re literally saving lives.
