Microsoft Adds Powerful AI Features to Windows 11 File Explorer: Edit Photos and Summarize Documents Faster. |
Microsoft has started testing new AI-powered features right inside Windows 11 File Explorer. Now, when you right-click a file, you can quickly use artificial intelligence to do things like blur the background of a photo, remove unwanted objects, or get a quick summary of an Office document.
In the latest Dev Channel builds, there are four AI actions available for images: you can search for similar pictures online using Bing, blur the background or remove objects with the Photos app, and even remove backgrounds in Paint. Pretty cool, right?
But that’s not all — Microsoft will soon test similar AI features for Office files like Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. If you have a Microsoft 365 subscription with Copilot access, you’ll be able to get document summaries from OneDrive or SharePoint and automatically create lists based on the file content. These features will eventually roll out to all Windows 11 users.
There’s also an update to widgets — Microsoft is testing a more personalized and organized AI-powered news feed that includes curated content from Copilot.
Plus, the new update includes a feature called User Interaction-Aware CPU Power Management. This helps save battery on laptops and tablets by reducing power use when you’re inactive, then instantly ramps up performance when you start working again. So your device lasts longer without slowing you down.
In short, these updates make Windows 11 smarter and more efficient, helping you get things done faster and save energy at the same time.
