Police Investigate Acid Attack on Mother and Child in Sukabumi.

A shocking incident occurred in Sukabumi City when a 37-year-old mother, identified as YA, and her 10-year-old child, R, became victims of an acid attack by an unknown assailant. The tragic event took place on Thursday morning, around 7:15 AM, on Sudajaya Street, Jayaraksa Village, Baros District.

At the time, YA was dropping off her child before heading to work. Suddenly, an unknown individual approached them and threw a harmful chemical liquid at both of them. The assailant then fled the scene, leaving the mother and child with serious injuries. They were immediately rushed to RSUD R. Syamsudin, S.H. in Cikole for medical treatment.

Sukabumi Police Chief, AKBP Rita Suwadi, through the Head of Public Relations, AKP Astuti Setyaningsih, confirmed that the case is under serious investigation. "We received the initial report from the victim's uncle, and immediately, the Baros Police took action and started the investigation," said Astuti.

From the investigation at the crime scene, authorities discovered several pieces of evidence believed to be related to the attack, including a helmet and a can, which might have been used to store the chemical liquid that was thrown at the victims.

"When the victims were walking, they suddenly encountered the unknown assailant, who without warning, threw acid at them," added Astuti.

As of now, the identity and motive of the attacker remain unclear. Police are gathering information from witnesses around the area and working hard to identify the perpetrator behind this vicious act.

This incident has understandably made the local community uneasy and concerned. An acid attack not only causes severe physical harm but also leaves lasting emotional trauma for the victims, especially when a young child is involved.

Authorities are urging anyone who might have information related to the perpetrator or the incident to come forward. "We hope the community will assist us by providing any relevant information, no matter how small, so we can catch the perpetrator and bring them to justice," said Astuti.

We hope the attacker is soon apprehended, and justice is served for YA and her child. May such an incident never happen again in the future.
