The South Sulawesi Regional Police (Polda Sulsel), along with all its district-level police forces (Polres), are ramping up regional patrols as part of their commitment to maintaining public safety and order. This effort is part of Operation Pekat 2025, a special crime eradication operation conducted by the Directorate of General Criminal Investigation (Ditreskrimum) of Polda Sulsel.

According to the Head of Public Relations, Police Commissioner Didik Supranoto, S.I.K., M.H., the operation is aimed at cracking down on community-damaging crimes and maintaining a peaceful public environment.

“In this operation, we successfully uncovered 83 cases from the 120 identified targets (TO). In addition, 252 non-target cases were also revealed, which proves the effectiveness of the operation,” Didik stated, as reported by Rakyat Sulsel on Tuesday (May 12, 2025).

A wide range of crimes were targeted during this operation, especially acts of thuggery and illegal possession of sharp weapons. Police managed to solve 59 cases related to these offenses and arrested 87 suspects.

Confiscated items include:

  • 22 sharp weapons (e.g., traditional knives, bows, slingshots),

  • 10 mobile phones,

  • 3 motorcycles.

Other notable criminal offenses uncovered during the operation include:

  • 5 sexual abuse cases,

  • 8 human trafficking (TPPO) cases,

  • 26 gambling cases,

  • 22 theft cases,

  • 234 alcohol-related cases,

  • 19 prostitution cases,

  • 1 livestock theft case,

  • 7 cases of aggravated theft,

  • 2 harassment cases,

  • 1 child protection violation.

This impressive achievement highlights the South Sulawesi Police’s determination to combat public disorder and build a safer community.

Operation Pekat will continue to be conducted periodically to suppress crime rates and enhance public safety.

“Polda Sulsel is committed to maintaining a peaceful and secure environment. We also urge all members of the public to support this mission by reporting any suspicious or criminal activity,” Didik concluded.

With strong collaboration between law enforcement and the community, South Sulawesi aims to be a safer and more harmonious region for all.
