Indonesia’s President, Prabowo Subianto, grabbed global attention with his speech at the prestigious St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) 2025. Speaking in front of world leaders and top international business figures, President Prabowo shared exciting news about the country’s achievements in food production and its growing influence in international cooperation.

With confidence and pride, Prabowo said that in just seven months under his leadership, Indonesia had made a major breakthrough in food production. “I’m proud to stand here before you all. In the past seven months, we’ve increased rice and corn production by about 50 percent. This is the largest production growth in Indonesia’s history,” said President Prabowo.

He also revealed that Indonesia’s rice reserves have hit a historic high of 4.4 million tons. According to him, this success was made possible by a series of strategic moves focused on efficiency, cutting red tape, and aggressively tackling corruption.

“In just a few months, we pushed for more efficiency, cracked down hard on corruption, and removed unnecessary regulations that were slowing us down. And we’re already seeing results,” he explained.

Beyond food security, Prabowo emphasized Indonesia’s rising role in the global arena—especially as a new member of BRICS, a group of major emerging economies. He expressed appreciation for the support Indonesia received from international partners, especially in joining both BRICS and the New Development Bank (NDB), which finances infrastructure and sustainable development projects among member countries.

“We believe Indonesia can play a positive role in international relations. Our membership in BRICS is one example. We’re grateful to the Russian government for their strong support—it was one of the fastest admissions ever,” said Prabowo.

He also thanked the Chinese and South African governments for backing Indonesia’s swift inclusion in the New Development Bank. According to Prabowo, Indonesia’s presence in BRICS is not just symbolic but a genuine effort to help create a more stable and prosperous world.

“We believe that through unity, BRICS can truly make a difference and help bring stability and well-being to the global community,” Prabowo concluded.
