Robbery and Assault Suspect Arrested in South Lampung, Victim Suffers Broken Arm. |
South Lampung – A 48-year-old man identified as MA has been arrested by police after allegedly committing robbery with violence and assaulting a man named Sahroni. The incident took place in Dusun Gunung Besi, Tanjung Bintang District, and left the victim seriously injured.
The arrest happened on Thursday, June 19, 2025, around 3:30 PM at the suspect’s rented house in Sukanegara Village. The operation was carried out by the Tanjung Bintang Police's Tekab 308 Presisi team, led by Officer IPDA Ari Andriyana.
Jealous Rage Turns Violent
According to Police Chief Kompol Samsari, the assault took place on Friday, June 13, 2025, around 10:00 AM. At that time, the victim was at a small shop on Ir Sutami Street when MA suddenly showed up. In a fit of jealousy, he accused Sahroni of having an affair with his wife, who was also present at the shop.
MA then demanded that Sahroni hand over his phone. When the victim refused to share the password, the suspect picked up a wooden stick and struck Sahroni, breaking his left arm.
After the assault, MA grabbed the victim's OPPO A53 smartphone and fled the scene. The stolen phone was valued at around 2 million rupiah (approximately $125). Sahroni later reported the incident to the Tanjung Bintang Police.
Tracked Down and Arrested Without Resistance
Following the report, police launched an investigation and tracked down MA to his rented house. During the raid, he did not resist arrest and reportedly confessed to both the assault and robbery.
“The suspect was apprehended without resistance and admitted to attacking the victim and stealing his phone,” said Kompol Samsari.
Police also seized the wooden stick used in the attack as evidence. MA is now in custody at the Tanjung Bintang Police Station and is undergoing legal processing.
Facing Up to 9 Years in Prison
MA is expected to be charged under Article 365 of the Indonesian Criminal Code, which deals with robbery with violence, and/or Article 351 concerning assault. If convicted, he could face up to nine years in prison.
This case is a stark reminder of how dangerous it is to let emotions spiral out of control. No matter the circumstances, taking justice into your own hands through violence is never the answer.
