Drug Dealer Busted in Musi River Raid: Here's What Happened.

Palembang, Indonesia — A suspected drug dealer was arrested in a special operation led by the Indonesian National Police along the banks of the Musi River in Palembang, South Sumatra. The operation was conducted by the Police Vessel KP Beo-5013 under the Patrol Division of the Directorate of Water and Air Police (Ditpolair) and was led by Commander AKP Ody Khowat Setiawan, S.H.

A 33-year-old man, identified by the initials RA, was caught red-handed and is believed to be a major player in the distribution of methamphetamine (locally known as “sabu”) in the region.

The arrest followed a tip-off from local residents earlier in July 2025, reporting suspicious activity at a wooden hut located in Sungai Mudi, a riverside area in Seberang Ulu I District, Palembang.

“We received information from the public regarding drug transactions in the area. After forming a special team and conducting several days of covert surveillance, we confirmed the reports were valid,” said AKP Ody.

The raid took place on Saturday, July 19, 2025, around 1:45 PM local time, at the suspected location near the river.

After closely monitoring the hut, officers spotted suspicious movements. Without delay, they launched a targeted raid and successfully arrested RA without resistance.

“It was a swift and well-measured operation. The suspect was taken aboard the patrol boat for initial questioning,” AKP Ody explained.

The team confiscated multiple pieces of evidence linked to drug trafficking, including:

  • 3 packets of methamphetamine with a gross weight of 1.22 grams

  • 1 digital scale

  • 4 bongs (used for smoking meth)

  • 106 empty plastic clips

  • A glass pipette, gas lighter, and a small plastic spoon

  • Rp105,000 in cash (around USD 6.50)

“All evidence was secured following proper procedures. The suspect has been handed over to the South Sumatra Regional Water Police Law Enforcement Unit for further legal action,” AKP Ody added.

This successful operation highlights the importance of community involvement in combating drug crimes, especially in remote and water-bound areas. The swift response by the Indonesian water police is part of an ongoing effort to curb the spread of narcotics across the country.
