Kubu Raya Shows What Real Leadership Looks Like from the Ground Up. |
The 18th anniversary of Kubu Raya wasn't just a celebration – it was a powerful reminder of what leadership really means. West Kalimantan’s Vice Governor Krisantus Kurniawan gave a heartfelt shoutout to the region’s top leaders, Bupati Sujiwo and Vice Bupati Sukiryanto, who’ve built a solid reputation for being super close to the people.
During the ceremony at the Kubu Raya Regent's office on July 17, 2025, Krisantus didn’t hold back. He shared how impressed he is with the way these two local leaders handle their jobs. You rarely see them in formal provincial meetings – not because they’re slacking off, but because they’re constantly out in the field, meeting folks face-to-face.
Krisantus said these two guys don’t mind getting their hands dirty. Sometimes they have to cross rivers or even open sea routes just to reach the farthest corners of the region. That kind of dedication? Rare these days. And he believes that’s exactly the kind of leadership other regions should look up to.
Kubu Raya isn’t the easiest place to govern. The geography is tough, and many areas are only accessible by water. But instead of using that as an excuse, Sujiwo and Sukiryanto see it as a reason to go harder. And that’s where the magic happens – when local, provincial, and national governments work together with one mission in mind.
The Vice Governor pointed out that real progress takes teamwork. It’s not just about drafting big plans in fancy offices, it’s about turning those plans into real action that changes people’s lives. That’s what Sujiwo and his deputy are doing – showing up for their people, day in and day out.
This story isn’t just another feel-good moment at a government event. It’s proof that leadership grounded in empathy, courage, and action still exists. Kubu Raya might be remote, but the light of its leadership shines far and wide.
