Marc Marquez matched Giacomo Agostini’s record with his 68th MotoGP premier class win at the Dutch TT. Ducati’s Gigi Dall’Igna calls him a true racing legend.

Marc Marquez has once again carved his name into the MotoGP history books. The Spanish rider claimed his 68th premier class grand prix victory last Sunday at Assen, equalling the legendary Giacomo Agostini’s record—a milestone that speaks volumes about his elite status in the sport.

Despite suffering two hard crashes on Friday, Marquez bounced back in sensational form, dominating both the Sprint and the main race. It was his third consecutive double win of the season, solidifying his reign since finishing third at Silverstone in May.

Ducati’s general manager, Gigi Dall’Igna, was full of admiration.

“In the 10th round of the 2025 MotoGP, Marc gets his sixth win of the season, equalling Agostini’s total of 68. And he did it on a track he hasn’t won at since 2018.”

Dall’Igna emphasized how Assen, like Mugello before, isn’t among Marquez’s strongest circuits. But when Marquez decides to lead, Dall’Igna said, he does so with dominance and determination.

“He’s sealing Sprint-GP doubles for the third straight weekend, making it nine Sprint wins so far. These are extraordinary results for a rider who continues to make history with the hunger and spirit of a rookie,” Dall’Igna said.

Even though he wasn’t at 100% physically, Marquez's performance was clinical.

“Despite the crashes on Friday, he still managed to weave his lethal web, leaving his rivals no chance.”

Dall’Igna also gave a nod to Francesco Bagnaia, who started second—his best qualifying of the year—and finished third in the race.

“Pecco’s race was one of his most intense this year. He nearly grabbed pole position and showed great pace with the fastest lap during the race.”

He praised Bagnaia’s overtaking on Pedro Acosta and emphasized the need to keep pushing forward as a team.

Finally, Dall’Igna offered well-wishes to Alex Marquez, who crashed with Acosta and suffered a fractured metacarpal but still holds second place in the championship standings.

“Best wishes to Alex for a quick recovery. He’s a fighter who never holds back,” he said.
