| Sexual Harassment Case at SMAN 4 Serang: Police Confirm Inappropriate Conduct by Teacher. |
Serang, Indonesia — The Criminal Investigation Unit (Satreskrim) of Serang City Police, through its Women and Children Protection Unit (PPA), has confirmed a sexual harassment incident allegedly committed by a teacher at SMAN 4 Serang.
The conclusion was reached following an investigation based on a police report filed by a student victim on July 11, 2025. According to the Head of PPA, Second Police Inspector (Ipda) Febby Mufti Ali, the investigation revealed misconduct that aligns with sexual harassment, although it did not reach the level of rape or sexual intercourse.
“Based on our investigation, there was behavior that qualifies as harassment, but it did not escalate to sexual intercourse,” said Febby, as reported by Antaranews on Tuesday, July 22, 2025.
The case involves an unnamed male teacher at SMAN 4 Serang and a female student who made the formal complaint. So far, only one official report has been received by the police.
Febby clarified that despite the social media buzz surrounding the issue, the investigation is still centered around a single victim's report. However, the police are open to further reports if more victims come forward.
The alleged incident occurred at SMAN 4 Serang, a public senior high school located in the city of Serang, Banten Province, Indonesia.
The case came to light after a formal police report was filed on July 11, 2025, although the situation gained public attention when it went viral on Instagram.
The issue began trending after an Instagram account, @savesmanfourkotser, posted allegations of sexual harassment, illegal levies, intolerance, and student intimidation within SMAN 4 Serang. The account claimed that these incidents have persisted without proper action from school authorities.
The police are currently awaiting the results of a psychological examination of the victim, which is crucial to finalizing the investigation file. The Serang Police are working closely with the Integrated Service Center for Women and Children Empowerment (P2TP2A) to ensure the results are processed swiftly.
“Once the psychological evaluation is complete, we will immediately conduct a case review to determine the next legal steps,” Febby explained.
Today, investigators have also scheduled interviews with the victim's family and the school committee to gather more information and strengthen the legal case.
Following the psychological report and a formal case hearing, law enforcement will decide on further legal proceedings. The public and relevant stakeholders are urged to support the victim and allow the investigation to proceed without interference.
