A police officer from Sambas Police Department, identified by the initials MR, has been arrested after authorities found 3.44 grams of methamphetamine and 9.94 grams of ecstasy hidden in his home. The case has caused quite a stir, as the suspect is supposed to uphold the law—not break it.
Sambas Police Chief AKBP Wahyu Jati Wibowo, through Public Relations Officer AKP Sadoko, confirmed that the investigation will proceed firmly and transparently, covering both ethical and criminal aspects.
“This is proof of our firm commitment to fighting drugs—no exceptions,” Sadoko said on Tuesday (October 14, 2025).
The incident came to light when MR failed to attend the morning roll call on October 8, 2025. Suspicion arose, prompting officers to visit his home for a check. During the search, police discovered meth and ecstasy in MR’s bedroom. Unable to deny it, MR was immediately detained and taken to the Sambas Police Headquarters.
MR is now undergoing intensive questioning at the West Kalimantan Regional Police Headquarters (Polda Kalbar). Investigators stated that the case will continue to be developed to uncover the drug network possibly connected to MR.
“Anyone involved will face strict legal action—no one is above the law,” Sadoko emphasized.
As a preventive measure, Sambas Police regularly conduct urine drug tests for all personnel and strengthen internal supervision, especially in border areas that are vulnerable to drug trafficking.
This case serves as a strong reminder that the fight against drugs is not only the responsibility of law enforcement but also a shared duty of the entire community. With firm action and consistent commitment, Sambas aims to be free from the grip of illegal drugs that destroy lives and the nation’s future.
