Pangkalpinang has once again been shaken by a motorcycle theft case. This time, Pangkalpinang Police successfully uncovered a series of thefts carried out by a young woman. The details behind the case turned out to be quite surprising.
Pangkalpinang Police Chief, Senior Commissioner Max Mariners, explained that the suspect is Nasya Putri Abillia (20), a resident of Sungailiat, Bangka Regency. She was proven to be involved in motorcycle thefts at two different locations within the jurisdiction of Pangkalpinang Police. The disclosure was delivered on Wednesday, January 14, 2026.
The first theft occurred on Monday, June 17, 2024, at around 7:30 a.m. local time on Taib Street, Dul Subdistrict, Pangkalan Baru District, Central Bangka. At that time, the victim parked a red-and-white 2016 Honda Beat motorcycle to attend Eid al-Adha prayers. After returning, the victim discovered the motorcycle was gone. The estimated loss reached 10 million rupiah.
The second incident took place in the parking area of SMKN 3 Pangkalpinang, Girimaya Street, on Tuesday, May 21, 2024, at around 9:30 a.m. Based on CCTV footage, the suspect was seen taking a blue-and-white 2017 Honda Beat motorcycle belonging to a student’s parent. The victim suffered losses of approximately 9.5 million rupiah.
The case was revealed following police reports filed since June 2024. After conducting an in-depth investigation, the Naga Task Force of Pangkalpinang Police finally identified the suspect’s whereabouts. On Thursday, January 1, 2026, at around 3:00 p.m., officers arrested Nasya on Kapten Munzir Street, Taman Sari District.
During questioning, the suspect admitted to committing the thefts. She explained that the first incident happened spontaneously. While visiting a relative in the Taib area and finding the house empty, she walked around and noticed a motorcycle parked on the roadside with the key still attached. Without much thought, she took the motorcycle and rode it home.
Confused about what to do next and pressured by financial difficulties, the suspect decided to sell the motorcycle through an online marketplace. The motorcycle was sold for 2.5 million rupiah. The money was partly given to her grandmother, while the rest was used for daily expenses.
Further investigation revealed that Nasya was also responsible for the theft near SMKN 3 Pangkalpinang. At the time, she was living in a boarding house behind the school. She noticed a motorcycle parked with the key still attached, took the key first, and returned days later to steal the motorcycle.
To avoid suspicion, the suspect changed the motorcycle’s appearance by applying new stickers and replacing the license plate. The motorcycle was then used for her daily activities.
Police once again reminded the public to stay alert when parking their vehicles. Always remove the key and use additional security measures to prevent similar crimes. This case serves as a clear reminder that a small act of negligence can lead to significant losses.
