The Singkawang City Government continues to strengthen public energy services by encouraging optimal operations at a newly opened gas station on Jalan Tani, West Singkawang District. This move comes as residents’ mobility and economic activity in the area continue to rise.

Singkawang City Secretary Dwi Yanti emphasized that the addition of a new gas station is more than just expanding infrastructure—it is a strategic step to ensure smooth fuel distribution, especially in areas experiencing population growth and increasing daily movement.

“As community mobility and economic activity grow, the need for additional gas stations becomes unavoidable. This facility plays an important role in ensuring fuel availability while improving service quality for residents,” Dwi Yanti said during the inauguration of SPBU DODO 64.791.24, owned by PT Bintang Jasa Transkal, on Tuesday.

She also reaffirmed the city government’s commitment to creating a healthy investment climate that complies with regulations and prioritizes public service. According to her, faster business licensing processes will continue without compromising safety standards and service quality.

“Investments like this reflect strong confidence in Singkawang. Our responsibility is to ensure licensing runs efficiently while supervision remains strict,” she explained.

In addition, the city government urged the gas station operator to maintain high service standards, prioritize operational safety, comply with Pertamina regulations, and build a positive relationship with the surrounding community.

Meanwhile, Pertamina Kalbar 1 Fuel Sales Branch Manager, Irsan Firdaus Gisani, explained that the gas station operates under the Dealer Owner Dealer Operate (DODO) scheme and currently serves non-subsidized fuel products. These include Pertamax Turbo, Pertamax, Pertalite, Pertamina Dex, and Dexlite.

However, the distribution of subsidized fuel is still pending administrative requirements, particularly a feasibility recommendation letter from the Singkawang City Government to the Downstream Oil and Gas Regulatory Agency (BPH Migas).

“Once the local government issues the recommendation to BPH Migas, the station will be allowed to distribute subsidized fuel,” Irsan stated.

He added that subsidized fuel distribution is targeted to begin by the end of the second quarter of 2026, as the station’s infrastructure already meets Pertamina’s technical standards.

Beyond improving fuel access, the new gas station is also expected to deliver direct economic benefits to the local community. Joni, owner of PT Bintang Jasa Transkal, said all employees recruited for the station come from Singkawang.

“We want this gas station to do more than provide fuel. Our goal is to create real economic impact for local residents, especially through job opportunities,” Joni said.

With the presence of this new gas station, Singkawang residents are expected to enjoy easier access to fuel, better service quality, and broader economic opportunities—small infrastructure, but with a meaningful impact on everyday life.
