The Kubu Raya local government continues to address the issue of uninhabitable houses across the region. On Sunday (March 15), Kubu Raya Regent Sujiwo personally visited a resident’s home in Parit Bugis Village to assess its condition.

During the visit, the regent inspected the house belonging to a resident named Vita. The building was found to be in poor condition and considered unsafe for comfortable living.

House Renovation Planned After Eid

While speaking with residents, Regent Sujiwo assured that the local government would help renovate the house. However, the renovation work is scheduled to begin after the Eid al-Fitr holiday to allow time for proper preparation.

He said the visit was part of the regional government’s ongoing effort to reduce the number of uninhabitable houses in the area.

“This house clearly needs attention. God willing, after Eid we will work on renovating it,” Sujiwo told residents during the inspection.

The regent emphasized that helping residents who live in inadequate housing remains one of the local government’s priorities.

Around 16,000 Uninhabitable Houses Recorded

According to data from the government of Kubu Raya Regency, the number of uninhabitable houses in the region is still relatively high.

Sujiwo explained that there are currently around 16,000 houses categorized as uninhabitable across several districts.

“Our data shows around 16,000 uninhabitable houses. From that number, we will map out which ones are in the most critical condition so they can be prioritized for assistance,” he said.

The mapping process aims to ensure that government assistance is delivered to the residents who need it most.

Community-Based Support For Riverside Houses

To accelerate the housing improvement program, the regent said the government would not rely solely on national or regional budgets.

Instead, a community-based approach involving cooperation and mutual assistance will be encouraged, especially for houses located along riverbanks that may not qualify for government-funded programs.

“For houses along the rivers that cannot be funded through state or regional budgets, we will build them through a community cooperation concept,” Sujiwo explained.

He added that the government plans to collaborate with various institutions, including Badan Amil Zakat Nasional (Baznas), to support the program.

The collaboration is expected to help accelerate housing improvements for low-income residents.

Village Government Ready To Collect Data

Meanwhile, the head of Parit Bugis Village confirmed that the village administration is ready to follow up on the regent’s instructions.

The village government will conduct further data collection on homes that are considered uninhabitable, particularly those located along riverbanks.

This step is expected to strengthen the government’s housing database and improve the accuracy of future assistance programs.

Resident Expresses Gratitude

Vita, the homeowner whose house was inspected, expressed her gratitude and emotion after the visit.

She said she was thankful that the regent took the time to personally see the condition of her home.

“Thank you to the Regent for coming and seeing our house. May God reward him with good health and abundant blessings,” she said.

Government Commitment To Improve Housing

The Kubu Raya government continues to prioritize the improvement of housing conditions for its residents.

Through collaboration between local authorities, social institutions, and the community, the government hopes the number of uninhabitable houses in the region will gradually decrease in the coming years.
