Kemenag Kalsel strengthens inclusive education in madrasahs to support students with special needs through cross-sector collaboration and improved services.

BANJARMASIN – The Regional Office of the Ministry of Religious Affairs (Kemenag) of South Kalimantan continues to strengthen the implementation of inclusive education across madrasahs. This initiative aims to ensure that all students, including those with special needs, receive fair and high-quality educational services.

Head of the Regional Office, H Muhammad Tambrin, emphasized that strengthening inclusive education is a key priority, considering there are more than 500 madrasah education units across various levels in the region.

He explained that the effort has been initiated through coordination meetings involving multiple stakeholders, including district/city Inclusion Advocates, heads of madrasah education sections, and madrasah working groups.

“This initiative is a strategic step to ensure that madrasahs can provide quality, fair, and inclusive education services for all students without exception,” he said in Banjarmasin on Wednesday.

Tambrin highlighted that inclusive education cannot be implemented in isolation. Cross-sector collaboration is essential to create a safe and supportive learning environment for students with special needs.

Such collaboration includes partnerships with law enforcement agencies, child protection institutions, and other relevant stakeholders. The focus extends beyond education to include protection, health, and violence prevention within school environments.

“This cross-sector collaboration is crucial to ensure students receive proper protection and their rights are fully upheld,” he added.

He also urged all madrasah principals to give special attention to students with special needs. Continuous monitoring will be conducted to ensure effective implementation in the field.

“I firmly emphasize that all parties must give special attention. We will continue to monitor this closely,” Tambrin stated.

In addition, each education unit is required to provide adequate facilities and infrastructure. These improvements are expected to enhance accessibility and support students in participating fully in the learning process.

This initiative aligns with the core principles of inclusive education, which emphasize equal access and learning opportunities for all children without discrimination.

Through these efforts, Kemenag Kalsel hopes that madrasahs will become more open, adaptive, and responsive learning environments for every student.

Dishut Kalsel transforms Gatot Office into a forest product gallery to boost regional revenue and improve public services in Banjarmasin.

BANJARBARU — The Forestry Office (Dishut) of South Kalimantan Province (Kalsel) has initiated a strategic move by developing the Gatot Office in Banjarmasin into a gallery showcasing forest products from all Forest Management Units (KPH) across the province.

Head of the Forestry Office, Fathimatuzzahra, stated that this development aims to strengthen public services while increasing contributions to Regional Original Revenue (PAD).

According to her, the Gatot Office will no longer function solely as an administrative space, but will also serve as an integrated showcase featuring leading forest products, including timber forest products (HHK) and non-timber forest products (HHBK).

“The Gatot Office is now being positioned as a marketing center for forest products and will continue to be developed into a gallery for KPH flagship products in South Kalimantan,” she said on Monday.

Forest Product Gallery Becomes A New Attraction

This development introduces an interactive gallery concept, allowing visitors to directly explore a wide range of forestry products—from processed wood to non-timber products such as forest honey, rattan, and other derivatives.

Interestingly, the area is also integrated with supporting facilities like a café, creating a more relaxed and modern experience for visitors.

With this concept, the Forestry Office hopes the Gatot Office will evolve into a vibrant public space rather than just a conventional government office.

Facility Improvements And Rehabilitation Plan

To support the transformation, the Forestry Office has conducted a comprehensive cleanup involving all officials and staff. This initiative is part of optimizing regional assets while improving the overall work environment.

In addition, a light rehabilitation plan is currently being prepared, focusing on enhancing comfort, feasibility, and the visual appeal of service and marketing spaces.

The rehabilitation is targeted to be realized through upcoming regional budget (APBD) adjustments.

Boosting Regional Revenue Through Facility Rentals

Beyond functioning as a gallery, the Gatot Office will also serve as a source of regional revenue through retribution schemes. Meeting rooms—both small and large—will be available for rent by local government agencies (SKPD), communities, and other institutions.

This strategy is seen as an effective way to maximize regional assets while opening new revenue streams from service-based sectors.

“We expect these facilities to increase asset utilization and contribute positively to regional revenue,” Fathimatuzzahra added.

Commitment To Enhancing Public Services

The transformation of the Gatot Office into a forest product gallery reflects the Forestry Office’s commitment to improving public services based on regional potential.

In addition to expanding market access for KPH products, this initiative strengthens the forestry sector’s role as a key pillar of the local economy.

With a more modern and open approach, the public can now better appreciate the richness of South Kalimantan’s forest resources.

FAQ

1. What is the new function of the Gatot Office?
It serves as a forest product gallery, marketing center, and multifunctional public space.

2. What products are showcased?
Timber (HHK) and non-timber (HHBK) products such as rattan, honey, and other forest-based goods.

3. Can the public use the facilities?
Yes, including renting meeting rooms at affordable rates.

4. What is the main goal of this development?
To enhance public services and increase Regional Original Revenue (PAD).

5. When will the facility rehabilitation take place?
It is planned through upcoming regional budget (APBD) adjustments.

KUR distribution in South Kalimantan reaches Rp863.99 billion in 2026, led by agriculture sector and BRI, boosting MSME growth.

BANJARMASIN — The realization of the People’s Business Credit (KUR) program in South Kalimantan has shown a positive trend in early 2026. Total distribution has reached Rp863.99 billion, equivalent to 16.76 percent of the Rp5.15 trillion target, with 12,546 MSME borrowers benefiting from the program.

Head of the Regional Office of the Directorate General of Treasury (DJPb) South Kalimantan, Catur Ariyanto Widodo, stated that this achievement reflects improving access to financing for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs).

“KUR distribution in South Kalimantan shows solid progress at the beginning of the year,” he said in Banjarmasin on Monday.

Conventional KUR and Agriculture Sector Dominate

Conventional KUR continues to dominate distribution, accounting for Rp836.63 billion or 96.83 percent of the total. Meanwhile, Sharia-based KUR stands at Rp27.35 billion or 3.17 percent.

The agriculture sector emerged as the largest recipient, absorbing Rp307.28 billion or 35.57 percent, distributed to 5,609 borrowers. This highlights the sector’s crucial role in supporting the regional economy.

Additionally, the micro scheme dominates with Rp572.29 billion or 66.24 percent distributed to 11,436 borrowers, indicating that most beneficiaries are small-scale businesses.

Regional Distribution and Lending Institutions

Banjarmasin recorded the highest KUR distribution at Rp151.27 billion for 1,833 borrowers.

It was followed by:

  • Tanah Bumbu Regency: Rp117.28 billion (1,180 borrowers)

  • Banjar Regency: Rp91.87 billion (1,469 borrowers)

In terms of lenders, Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BRI) led with Rp571.57 billion distributed to 10,844 borrowers.

Other major lenders include:

  • Bank Mandiri: Rp104.05 billion

  • Bank Negara Indonesia (BNI): Rp92.48 billion

Nationally, South Kalimantan ranks 17th in KUR distribution and 5th within the Kalimantan region.

Ultra Micro Financing (UMi) Complements KUR

In addition to KUR, Ultra Micro (UMi) financing continues to support smaller businesses. As of February 2026, total UMi distribution reached Rp5.38 billion for 997 borrowers.

Sharia financing dominates UMi distribution at Rp3.35 billion (62.27 percent), while conventional financing accounts for Rp2.03 billion (37.73 percent).

The program is distributed through non-bank financial institutions, with PT Permodalan Nasional Madani (PNM) as the largest channeling institution.

“UMi financing plays a crucial role in expanding financial access for ultra-micro businesses that are not yet eligible for KUR,” Catur said.

Banjarmasin again recorded the highest UMi distribution at Rp0.95 billion, followed by Banjar Regency and Hulu Sungai Tengah.

From a sector perspective, trade dominates UMi recipients with a 94 percent share, while group-based schemes contribute 93.34 percent.

Strategy and 2026 Outlook

To maintain this positive trend, DJPb South Kalimantan has conducted monitoring and evaluation (M&E) with all distributing institutions to ensure targeted delivery.

Catur emphasized the importance of strengthening synergy across stakeholders to ensure more even distribution across all regions.

“The goal is to ensure that this positive trend is not concentrated in specific areas but spreads evenly across all districts and cities,” he stated.

These efforts are expected to further enhance MSME financing and accelerate inclusive and sustainable regional economic growth.

DJP Kalselteng records 304,959 tax filings by March 2026, down 14.26 percent. Taxpayers are urged to file before April 30 to avoid penalties.

Banjarmasin — Kanwil DJP Kalselteng has recorded a total of 304,959 Annual Tax Return (SPT) filings as of March 2026, marking a decline compared to the same period last year.

Head of Public Outreach, Services, and Public Relations (P2 Humas) Moch Luqman Hakim stated that the number represents a contraction of 14.26 percent year-over-year.

“This figure shows a decrease compared to last year, particularly among individual taxpayers,” Luqman said in Banjarmasin on Friday.

Decline Seen in Both Individual and Corporate Filings

However, several units reported positive performance, indicating that opportunities to improve tax compliance remain open through better education and optimized services.

Extended Holidays Contribute to the Decline

According to Luqman, one of the key factors behind the drop in filings is the overlap with long public holidays, including Nyepi and Eid al-Fitr.

This situation is believed to have delayed tax reporting activities, although overall public awareness remains relatively stable.

DJP Offers Relief and Encourages Immediate Filing

To boost compliance, the tax authority has implemented a policy waiving administrative penalties for taxpayers who submit their returns by April 30, 2026.

“This is an opportunity for taxpayers to file their returns without worrying about penalties,” Luqman explained.

He also emphasized that all tax service offices are ready to provide assistance, both in person and through online services.

DJP encourages taxpayers to file their returns accurately, completely, and clearly while utilizing the digital facilities provided by the government.

FAQ

Eid return travel 2026 on the Muara Teweh–Banjarmasin route begins to decline on H+5 as flight passenger numbers drop after the H+4 peak.

MUARA TEWEH — The return travel flow for Eid 2026 on the air route between Muara Teweh, North Barito Regency in Central Kalimantan, and Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan, has started to decline on H+5.

Head of Haji Muhammad Sidik Airport in Muara Teweh, Muhammad Amrillah, said the number of airline passengers on Thursday was lower compared to the previous day, which marked the peak of return travel.

“Today, flights between Muara Teweh and Banjarmasin are seeing fewer passengers compared to H+4, which was the peak of the return flow,” he stated.

On H+5, a total of 57 passengers arrived in Muara Teweh from Banjarmasin, while 41 passengers departed from Muara Teweh to Syamsudin Noor Airport in Banjarbaru. The route was served by a single daily flight operated by Wings Air.

Peak Travel Occurred on H+4

Amrillah explained that the highest passenger traffic occurred on H+4, Wednesday (March 25). On that day, 68 passengers arrived in Muara Teweh, while 71 departed.

The surge was driven by travelers returning to work after the Eid holiday period.

“Passenger numbers are now decreasing as people have started going back to work,” he added.

Flights Dominated by Transit Passengers

Haji Muhammad Sidik Airport currently operates daily round-trip flights to Banjarmasin using Wings Air’s ATR 72-600 aircraft, which has a capacity of 72 passengers.

Most passengers on this route are transit travelers coming from major cities such as Jakarta and Surabaya.

Typically, they connect through Syamsudin Noor Airport before continuing their journey to Muara Teweh or onward to Java Island.

Pioneer and Subsidized Flights Continue

In addition to the main route, the airport also serves pioneer flights to Palangka Raya via Tjilik Riwut Airport.

These flights are operated by Susi Air once a week, every Monday.

The aircraft used is a Cessna with a capacity of 12 passengers. Ticket prices are approximately IDR 540,020 for the Palangka Raya–Muara Teweh route and IDR 493,420 for the return route.

Meanwhile, commercial flights operated by Wings Air on the Muara Teweh–Palangka Raya route are available four times a week, on Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday.

Return Travel Expected to Continue Declining

As the Eid holiday period comes to an end, return travel is expected to continue declining over the next few days. Flight activity is gradually returning to normal conditions.

This decrease in passenger numbers indicates that the peak of the return travel season has passed, marking the end of the high-mobility period during Eid.

Universitas Lambung Mangkurat launches a student waste sorting program to support the ASRI movement and promote sustainable environmental solutions.

Banjarmasin — Universitas Lambung Mangkurat (ULM) has officially launched its Student Waste Sorting Initiative, a program designed to support Indonesia’s national movement for a Clean, Healthy, Safe, and Beautiful Environment (ASRI).

The initiative marks a concrete step by the university in addressing one of the country’s most pressing environmental challenges—waste management.

Rector Ahmad Alim Bachri stated that the program has received direct attention from the central government, including recognition from Hanif Faisol Nurofiq.

“We have presented this program directly to the Minister of Environment, and he highly appreciates the initiative,” Prof. Alim said in Banjarmasin.

Turning Waste Into Valuable Products

What makes this program stand out is its focus on sustainability. Sorted waste is not simply discarded but processed into useful products.

One of ULM’s innovations includes transforming waste into ecowood blocks—an eco-friendly material with practical applications.

According to Prof. Alim, a research-based and innovation-driven approach is key to delivering sustainable solutions.

“We want to create real solutions that have a direct impact on society, not just ideas,” he emphasized.

Supporting National Environmental Priorities

The initiative aligns with Indonesia’s national environmental priorities, particularly in improving waste management systems through research and practical implementation.

ULM has also expressed its readiness to fully support government policies in the environmental sector.

BANJARMASIN — Eid celebrations in South Kalimantan this year didn’t just happen in homes or tourist spots. Correctional facilities and detention centers were also filled with emotional family reunions.

The Regional Office of the Directorate General of Corrections (Ditjenpas) in South Kalimantan recorded a total of 9,875 visitors during the first two days of Eid. The number reflects strong enthusiasm from families wanting to stay connected with their loved ones behind bars.

Head of the regional office, Mulyadi, said that 4,155 inmates received visits during the period.

“Total inmates visited reached 4,155 people,” he stated in Banjarmasin on Monday.

This expansion ensured that families had better access and opportunities to meet inmates during the holiday.

Orderly And Well-Controlled Situation

Despite the surge in visitors, authorities confirmed that the entire visitation process ran smoothly.

There were no major incidents reported, and visitors were cooperative in following the established rules.

Mulyadi also expressed appreciation to families for maintaining order throughout the visits.

“Officers were willing to forgo Eid celebrations at home to fulfill their responsibilities,” he said.

Their dedication ensured that services for inmates and their families remained a top priority, even during a major holiday.

The issue? The access road, or what’s known as the “oprit.”

Head of the Public Works and Spatial Planning Office (PUPR), Suri Sudarmadiyah, said the city is now preparing design changes to finalize construction on that critical section.

Why Does the Design Need to Be Revised?

According to Suri, the redesign isn’t random. It’s necessary due to construction adjustments, especially on the riverbank side of the bridge.

This move also follows a compliance audit conducted by the Banjarmasin City Inspectorate, based on a request from the local prosecutor’s office.

So basically, this isn’t just a technical tweak—it’s also about making sure everything meets legal and engineering standards.

“These design changes are necessary to ensure the bridge matches actual field conditions, especially near the riverbanks,” Suri explained.

Experts Involved, Full Technical Review Underway

The city isn’t taking any shortcuts here. The Public Works Office has involved experts to ensure the bridge is safe and reliable.

A geotechnical study had already been carried out by academics from Lambung Mangkurat University. However, based on audit recommendations, the original project planner has been asked to conduct a full design review.

The updated study includes:

  • Hydraulic analysis

  • Hydrology analysis

  • Riverbank erosion risk assessment

All of this is crucial to make sure the bridge can withstand environmental pressures and remain safe long-term.

Project Budget and Construction Phases

The Cusa Bridge project has been carried out in two phases:

  • 2024: approximately IDR 21 billion

  • 2025: approximately IDR 3.2 billion

In total, the project spans around IDR 24.2 billion.

The bridge itself stretches 260 meters, with a main span of 80 meters, and features a modern suspension bridge design.

A Key Solution to Traffic Congestion

This bridge is considered a major solution for traffic issues, especially in the Sungai Andai area.

With a population of around 30,000 people, the area currently relies on just one bridge for access to the city.

No surprise—traffic congestion has been a daily problem.

That’s why the Cusa Bridge, often referred to as Sungai Andai Bridge 2, is expected to significantly ease traffic flow once it’s operational.

What the City Hopes to Achieve

With the updated design and deeper technical studies, the city government hopes the project can move forward smoothly.

The goal isn’t just to finish construction—but to ensure the bridge is safe, durable, and fully functional for years to come.

Police uncover a motorcycle theft case in Banjarmasin by tracking stolen vehicle sales on social media, leading to the arrest of two suspects.

Banjarmasin – The Criminal Investigation Unit of East Banjarmasin Police Sector, under Banjarmasin Police Department and South Kalimantan Regional Police, has successfully uncovered a motorcycle theft case by tracking the sale of stolen vehicles through social media.

Two suspects identified as MAJ (27) and AH (23) were arrested and secured along with evidence, including a stolen motorcycle.

Head of Criminal Investigation Unit, Ipda Sukma Yudhistira Nugraha, stated that the case began with a public report regarding a stolen motorcycle on March 15, 2026.

“After receiving the report, we immediately conducted an investigation and found the victim’s motorcycle being offered for sale on Facebook,” he said on Tuesday in Banjarmasin.

Officers then carried out further investigation using an undercover approach by posing as potential buyers to confirm the identity of the vehicle. A meeting with the suspects was arranged on Gatot Subroto Street.

During the transaction process, officers checked the vehicle’s frame and engine numbers, which matched the victim’s motorcycle.

“Once confirmed, officers immediately moved in to make the arrest. The suspect attempted to flee toward a swamp area,” Yudhistira explained.

Despite the escape attempt, the first suspect, MAJ, was successfully apprehended. During initial questioning, he admitted committing the theft with an accomplice.

Following further investigation, officers quickly moved to the second suspect’s hideout in the Pangambangan area.

“The second suspect was arrested without resistance at his residence. He was involved in assisting by pushing the stolen vehicle,” he added.

Police secured one unit of a 2018 Honda Beat motorcycle belonging to the victim as evidence.

The case began when the victim parked the motorcycle at the courtyard of Langgar Darussalam after performing dawn prayers. The vehicle was later reported missing as it was not locked properly.

As a result, the victim suffered an estimated loss of around IDR 10 million and reported the incident to the police.

Authorities are currently investigating the possibility of a wider network or additional suspects involved in the case.

“We urge the public to remain vigilant when parking their vehicles and ensure proper locking to prevent theft,” Yudhistira concluded.
