BorneoTribun Pontianak, West Kalimantan - Ahead of the Chinese New Year celebrations 2573 and Cap Go Meh 2022, the West Kalimantan Police will hold the Liong Kapuas 2022 operation, Monday (31/1/2022).

West Kalimantan Police Chief (Kapolda) Inspector General (Irjen) Drs. Suryanbodo Asmoro, M.M., explained that this ceremony was held to check the readiness of all personnel and infrastructure.

"To show the public that the West Kalimantan Police and stakeholders are ready to secure the Chinese New Year celebrations and the 2022 Cap Go Meh," he explained.

According to him, the Covid-19 pandemic is still ongoing, so with this the National Police will cancel the cultural celebration on February 15, 2022 on the instructions of the Governor of West Kalimantan, but the Chinese New Year celebrations will still be held.

"Securing Chinese New Year 2573 and Cap Go Meh 2022 is the main task of the state in organizing the celebration of the Chinese Ethnicity because the people here live in harmony with various ethnicities," said the Head of the West Kalimantan Police.

West Kalimantan Police Chief Drs, Suryanbodo Asmoro, M.M., said there were 8 security focus points. For now, they focus on the cities of Pontianak and Singkawang.

"Do joint patrols between the TNI-Polri and other agencies," he said.

Meanwhile, West Kalimantan Governor H. Sutarmidji also stated that the 2022 Cap Go Meh cultural celebration was prohibited due to concerns about crowds.

"For the implementation of the Lunar New Year prayers, they will continue to implement health protocols," he concluded.(*)
