BorneoTribun Pontianak, West Kalimantan - The Provincial Government (Pemprov) of West Kalimantan (Kalbar) destroyed 38,880 illegal eggs consisting of 28,080 salted eggs, 2,400 duck eggs, and 8,400 Arab chicken eggs.

Reported by BorneoTribun from Kalbaronline, Monday (31/1/2022), the extermination was led directly by the Regional Secretary of West Kalimantan Province, Harisson, together with the West Kalimantan Provincial Civil Service Police Unit in the yard of the West Kalimantan Civil Service Police Unit, Monday (31/1/2022).

"The eggs that were destroyed were imported from Central Java and entered West Kalimantan without official documents," said Harisson.

This, he said, clearly violates the administrative requirements set out in Perda No. 2 of 2016 and Pergub of West Kalimantan No. 141 of 2017 concerning instructions for implementing the Perda.

"In addition to violating the rules, it also causes damage to the egg trading system as well as disrupts the stability of egg prices. So we destroy it by burying it and then burning it," said Harisson.

Harisson explained that the illegal eggs were found based on a raid conducted by the West Kalimantan Provincial Satpol PP.

"Where, the Civil Service Police Unit received information from the public regarding the existence of illegal eggs imported from Semarang, Central Java and then taken to one of the expedition warehouses in Kubu Raya. The owner of the warehouse itself, said Harisson, has been investigated," he concluded.

“A warehouse owner admitted that the eggs were illegal without official documents. This is very dangerous to public health, apart from damaging the trade system and price stability. To the owner of the warehouse, we impose a warning sanction not to repeat his actions. We will make sure that we will take measurable action if we do it again,” he said.

Harisson also explained the reason the eggs should be destroyed rather than given to the public or resold. According to him, if it is handed over to the community, of course there is no guarantee that the eggs are safe and harmless.

"Meanwhile, if we sell it again, it will damage the trade system, so we still have to destroy it," he concluded.

Meanwhile, the Head of the West Kalimantan Civil Service Police Unit, Antonius Rawing, said the eggs were the result of controlling in one of the warehouses of business actors whose documents had been examined.

"From the results of the examination, there is not a single document that they can prove. The types of eggs that were destroyed were salted eggs and Arabic chicken eggs," he said.

This is the second time this extermination has been carried out. The first extermination was carried out in December 2021 with a total of 1,200 Arabic chicken eggs originating from East Java.

The illegal eggs have violated Regional Regulation Number 2 of 2016 concerning the Implementation of Livestock and Animal Health and West Kalimantan Governor Regulation Number 141 of 2017 concerning the Implementation of Livestock and Animal Health

"With this extermination, we hope that there will be a deterrent effect for business actors not to import illegal eggs into West Kalimantan," he said.
