BorneoTribun Pontianak, West Kalimantan - Ahead of the Chinese New Year celebrations 2573 and Cap Go Meh 2022, the West Kalimantan Police will hold the Liong Kapuas 2022 operation, Monday (31/1/2022).

West Kalimantan Police Chief (Kapolda) Inspector General (Irjen) Drs. Suryanbodo Asmoro, M.M., explained that this ceremony was held to check the readiness of all personnel and infrastructure.

"To show the public that the West Kalimantan Police and stakeholders are ready to secure the Chinese New Year celebrations and the 2022 Cap Go Meh," he explained.

According to him, the Covid-19 pandemic is still ongoing, so with this the National Police will cancel the cultural celebration on February 15, 2022 on the instructions of the Governor of West Kalimantan, but the Chinese New Year celebrations will still be held.

"Securing Chinese New Year 2573 and Cap Go Meh 2022 is the main task of the state in organizing the celebration of the Chinese Ethnicity because the people here live in harmony with various ethnicities," said the Head of the West Kalimantan Police.

West Kalimantan Police Chief Drs, Suryanbodo Asmoro, M.M., said there were 8 security focus points. For now, they focus on the cities of Pontianak and Singkawang.

"Do joint patrols between the TNI-Polri and other agencies," he said.

Meanwhile, West Kalimantan Governor H. Sutarmidji also stated that the 2022 Cap Go Meh cultural celebration was prohibited due to concerns about crowds.

BorneoTribun  North Sumatra - The Regional Police (Polda) of North Sumatra (Sumut) deployed around 2,000 TNI-Polri personnel in the implementation of security for the 2573 Lunar New Year which falls on February 1, 2022.

A total of 2,289 personnel will be deployed to monasteries in the North Sumatra Regional Police area and will be joined by TNI personnel, Satpol PP and related stakeholders.

"At the 2573 Lunar New Year celebration, the North Sumatra Police deployed 2,289 personnel who we placed in vital objects, houses of worship that will be used as a place for Chinese New Year celebrations," said the Head of Public Relations of the Polda Sumut, Monday (31/01/2022).

The Head of Public Relations of Polda Sumut said that at several points the temple would be sterilized by the North Sumatra Police Mobile Brigade Unit (Satuan Brimob Polda Sumut) so that the prayer would be safe and conducive.

The personnel in charge of security will also be on guard from morning to night, following the time of worship activities in each monastery.

"Of course we will ensure security and conduciveness at the implementation of the Lunar New Year later. We urge people who goes to the monastery to continue to comply with health protocols to prevent new clusters of spreading Covid-19," said the Head of Public Relations of Polda Sumut.

BorneoTribun Sekadau, West Kalimantan – In order to maintain the conduciveness of public order and security during the 2573 Chinese New Year and Cap Go Meh celebrations, the Sekadau Resort Police has deployed at least 150 personnel for security purposes.

As a first step, the Sekadau Police carried out a troop deployment on the night welcoming the Chinese New Year celebrations at the Bhakti Luhur Sekadau Foundation yard, Monday (31/1/2022).

Led by the Head of the Sekadau Police, AKBP K. Tri Panungko, this troop title ceremony serves to check the readiness of personnel, technical and security procedures as well as the completeness of supporting facilities and infrastructure.

"Tonight's troop deployment is a form of our response and readiness for the next 15 days in securing community activities during the celebration of Chinese New Year and Cap Go Meh," said the Sekadau Police Chief.

According to him, security is a task that must be carried out as well as possible to guarantee security stability during the big day, including this year's Chinese New Year celebrations.

Not only conduciveness, according to the Sekadau Police Chief, the goal to be achieved in security is to prevent the spread of the pandemic through efforts to enforce health protocol discipline.

"Of course this is done according to standard procedures and is humane. Avoid counter-productive actions so that there is no negative impression and image of the community towards us as police officers," he said.

Furthermore, the Sekadau Regional Police together with the Sekadau Hilir Koramil held patrols around the city as a sign of the start of counter operations in securing the 2573 Lunar New Year. Similar security was also carried out to the ranks of the Polsek.

"150 personnel will later secure worship at temples, tourist sites, shopping centers and crowd centers in the context of harkamtibmas and preventing the pandemic," explained the Sekadau Police Chief. (*)
